So I decided to do a build thread, just cos it's an Honda! Have owned peanut for years but it has sat unloved for years...I bought a donor bike as well just to average out the chances of getting some good bits. The sidecovers are worth an absolute fortune in OEM trim and I have 4 which are pretty good. I have 2 steel guards that may be panelbeatable.
I have ordered some bits already and have stripped both frames and decided to build 2 bikes. One mint and one roughy. They are worth about 4k$ in reasonable nick.

Cool, thanks for that! You are right, he gets a good result...I will keep watching. The frame shares the same headstock and backbone, and the motor is the same, but the rest is totally different. The TL's were sold new in NZ, road legal. But horrible to ride on the road, my g/f had one...

So today I got both frames ready for etch primer, or in the case of the rough frame, some rust converter paint. This includes straightening bent brackets and making sure the water is all out of frame tubes post paint stripper and waterblasting. The rougher bike is going to be called Grandad. Just to be clear, I dont normally name inanimate objects but for some reason, the first bike has always been called peanut and well, Grandad is kinda apt. He has rusted through in a coupla spots. They will be 50yrs old by the time they are finished!

So, minor setback. Painted frames and that went ok, then set up sandblaster and hauled swingarms onto the bench. Grandads swingarm is very rusty, which I knew, but when you whack it with a hammer it doesn't have a ring to it, just goes clack! So it is not up to even being a roughy. All good, but wait! There's more!
Peanuts swingarm has had a catastrophic failure in the past where the end snapped off and has been welded back on! So it is going to end up on Grandad and I need to source another one.. poos.
