Contact Martyn748, he maybe able to help you confirm things like chassis numbers etc. Martyn mentioned to me that he has contacts with checking out a variety of things Ducati and confirming whether things are genuine if you get my drift. Also Ducati UK will assist you too. Its worth checking out..

I know it's a long shot but are any of you free on tuesday am and in the sheffield area. I could do with some moral support and additional knowledge when I go to view and if ok buy this one.:support:

Sorry mate can't Tuesday morning, have too many working commitments on t'other side of the Pennines (Manchester)...

I spotted another one in this weeks Scot Ads for sale in Banchory. Asking price £6500. I don't know anything about it though.

I had one for 5yrs - you need to check the norms like service and belts - ring any of the dealers from the service book to check, also you can run a check on the limited SPS number on the tank plate. It should also come with a red cover and rear stand (it should also have a carbon airbox) - sold mine with 7000 miles for £8800

Hi Derek can you let me know the contact details asap please. I has a 700 mile round trip yesterday for nothing. The bike was a pile and the history was suspect to say the least:mad:

JUST A QUICK BIT OF INFO. THE CHEEKY BAST@@D HAS NOW GOT IT ON EBAY. BEWARE READ HIS DESCIPTION AND AFTER MY JOURNEY HOW MANY WOULD HAVE TRAVELLED THAT FAR?

IT'S NOT FAIR TO MISS REPRESENT THINGS LIKE THIS. YOU KNOW AT FIRST WE FELT FOR THE GUY AND DID NOT WANT TO PULL THE BIKE TO PEICES BUT IN THE END WE FELT HE SHOULD KNOW. HAVING OWNED A FEW DUC'S BETWEEN US WE FELT QUALIFIED, SO WE PLUCKEED UP THE COURAGE AND EXPLANED WHAT WAS WHAT AND HE SEEMED TO UNDERSTAND AND A LITTLE DEJECTED, AS WE ALL WOULD IF WE HAD BEEN STICHED UP A WHILE AGO AND NOT REALISED UNTILL IT WAS TIME TO SELL IT ON. ON LEAVING WE FELT BAD AT FIRST BUT AS OUR RETURN JOURNEY WENT ON & ON & ON WE BEGAN TO ANALISE HIS BEHAVIOR AND CAME TO THE CONCLUSION HE MUST HAVE HAD AN IDEA OF WHAT HE WAS SELLING. WELL HE OBVIOUSLY DID BECAUSE LOOK AT THE SALES PATTER>

WHAT A CNUT IS ALL I CAN SAY I CANT POST THE LINK CAUSE I@M THICK WITH PC'S BUT JUST GO TO EBAY DUCATI 996 SPS IN THE PICTURE ITS SITTIN ON A GARDEN PATH LOOKING FAB!

i guess its this one then

sorry for your wasted journey Pibbow but what upsets me more really is that fact that such a special bike could be so abused. I mean, it looks great in the pictures, but I too, having worked at Baines, I've seen the insides of engines that have been abused. Let alone what they look like on the outside!

Being old and cynical I believe in the theory that a bike/car whatever increases its sh!te value in direct proportion to how far you travel to buy it. Also known as Einstein's theory of sh!te relativity.:)

...oh I dunno if ETofSR is always true, went all the way to Germany to buy German sports cars and never came unstuck with a pig of a car. (then again it cost all of £17 to have Ryanair fly me to Dortmund last time I went, so a bit cheaper than Pibbows trip to Sheffield or whereever it was).:)

Thanks Gimzo I've been in contact with him over the last couple of day's, it's a nice bike but I either want 916 sps or a late ohlins 996 if possible.

Thanks for the heads up

Peter
