A30 sections near Heathrow.

Traffic police are regularly setting up outside Hatton Cross station catching both East and West bound carriageways.
Started back last Summer and continues to this day.
Also East bound by the Hilton/terminal 4 crossover.
Also East bound on the A30 for the 3 miles to the Crooked Billet.
Note Red traffic light cameras along this section of the A30 also enforce speed, which is a 40mph limit. They flash at 50mph, maybe lower.

I thought there was a lack of coppers around, stretched to the max etc, yet, they still find time to fleece the motorist..

01.15am.... posted "currently setting up" ....1 no point not enough victims about, 2 Cops don't do it civvies do now, 3 nothing to set up!

At that time of the day my money is on cops (if it was cops there) attending the location of a previous serious collision for a scene survey!

Sorry Andy I think my opening line was your issue...
FACT: They are there several times a week, 6am to around 11am.
Flat white caps and the rest is Hugo Boss Nazi leather or whatever SS uniform.
They are most definitely "talking to people" about their speed; I have this first hand, no error or interpretation.
"Set up" is traffic cones to make a little lay-by out of the four lanes.
And yes there has been many fatalities at that point, not caused necessarily by speed, but instead stopping on a quad carriage way to make illegal right turns across three more lanes. I'm nearly always aware of an accident as they land the EMS helicopter behind my house, resulting in recovery of anything and everything in our garden from neighbouring gardens and fields.
