Admiral Insurance

Standard insurance practice to load the renewal at least until blame/liability is proven. I had the same problem many years ago and had to go to court against the other party to get things resolved and revert to a realistic renewal quote.
If claim is low enough for small claims and you can win the case then the other party's insurers are obliged to settle within 14 days (assuming that the law is still the same) and your insurers should start to play ball again.
All still with Admiral at the moment and the service has remained excellent so far .

The latest is that the car is being written off and Admiral want to pay out within 7 days with payment based on an average they gather from CAP and Glasses guides. I think the payout is about 25% less than it should be so I have to present evidence to back this up and then he should get the extra. This is fairly standard I believe but before he accepts I`m going to discuss things with the broker we use at work who arranges cover for the building, contents, goods in transit etc etc just to make sure I`m not missing anything.
All in all very impressed with Admiral.

I've always got an uplift when challenging insurance on the vehicle value, so you should get some more.

Except once, when they offered me £1750 for a Citreon XM I'd bought at auction for £225...all I could afford at the time. I accepted that double quick - it came at a good time. The bloke who'd damaged it knocked on my door and asked if it was mine as I'd left it on the road not up the drive. I was pissed off at the damage, but glad he'd been a good bloke fessing up.

I went and bought another at auction for £250 with MOT and ran it for over a year until the suspension went, and I coud afford something better by then.

It's funny how things work out sometimes when you look back on them.
