Hi guys!
I want to cover my 916 seat in black suede, I hear alcantara is the suff to have, but its quite hard to get hold of and expensive!
What about some fake stuff? Would it really matter? I wondered if the fake stuff would be waterproof ect?
My head is done in, I have someone to cover the seat but no material!
Can anyone help?

just got for some suede james, theres a few places that can cover your seat if u send it to them.

I know e moto do it, but I dont really want to pay £69 just to get it covered!
My uncle got his mv done there, but that was back when it was £45! a more respectable price, where do you recomend Ian?
I willhave a look at e bay later, is alcantara waterproof?
 
Alcantara is artificial suede. Probably not waterproof. Probably not anything proof to be fair. It is sometimes used in high end sports cars for a little extra grip on seat bolsters. It is a lovely product, but I cannot see it working on a bike seat.
 
Thats what I needed to know!
Its just getting hold of some black suede thin enough and black enough to do the job.
 
lots of people have alcatara on bike seats and though not truely water proof it is quite resistant to the elements.
depending on use it should be good for 3-4 years but will fade.
 
I bought some Alcantara to redo my seat it was £60 for 1 sq mtr!.

I have some left,enough to do two complete seats.

£20 for enough to do one seat,if you want some.
 
I have just had an offer from someone from the site to cover my seat in real suede, which means it will be waterproof!

i was gonna do this recently but got put off when all my mates Slagged me for thinking about it. . . . . . .

you may well ask, every Ducati I have had, I got a Sargent seat for..........comfort for your bum is well worth the cost :rolleyes:
 
They are bloody painfull to ride (Ducatis) but thats part of the fun, I will get the suede for the moment, and if I happen to get some decent money from somewhere I will look into getting a sargent!
