This is my first Ducati the only trouble is i carn't keep off the thing. The trouble is i am scared of putting 2 many miles on it. What sort of annual mileage would you do a year. My thinking is if you got it use it.

You've answered your own question ;) Whats the point of owning a motorcycle then not riding it because it would effect the resale value ?

That said , I've only ever bought one bike new and that was 31 years ago

every bike since then has been second hand , though being as poor as a church mouse and as tight as a ducks @rse accounts for that :( so I'm probably not in a position to offer advice .

ride the bugger. So far this past 10 months I have been mainly riding a bike.
Just past 13k miles.

LOL exactly he is there to be ridden!

Ive put about 2K on mine in is it 3 or 4 weeks?

I figure the more I ride him, the more I get to know him!

No smut now:cool:

We can indeed compare 848's - anyone else turning up on theirs aswell?

He has been bought some bling today!

A lovely dark screen and I have to say I am very pleased with how it looks - i think the phrase is "the dogs bollocks"

my strategy is to have as many cars and bikes as possible. that way i never get the time to do high mileage on any one of them. not sure the combined tax, insurance and depreciation is less than on one vehicle, but whahey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!what a great laff!!!!!

bring them all on......................................

I'm afraid I saw another 848 over at Gunthorpe the other week in white with some lanky young man riding it.

Also there was a red 848 in Matlock Bath this morning - was it you Dunc?

I had my first trip through Holmfirth too today!

And I didn't have my passport with me either!

Hi Ducati Girl funny you should say that. Yes i was in Matlock Bath this morning, but not on the 848. Took my Fazer 1000 out to check the route to make sure there were no land mines, stingers, bomb holes, tax inspectors, traffic wardens, mad axe men etc. Shounds like you may have done the same?:p

Would it be possible for you to do something about the state of the roads, and the mad axe men, oh and stone walls please???? :D

:furious: Just had a word with the highways dept:banghead: :jerkoff:

The last new bike I had was 31 years ago, VWY99S it was an XS250 and the worst bike I ever had so I soon traded it for a Z650, the best jap bike I ever had!
Since then all my bikes have been Italian, bought as used and intended to keep so I wasn't bothered about the miles. All my previous bikes have got sold to insurance companys:eek:
The only problem with putting a lot of miles on your bike is that it isn't in line with what you have declared to your insurance company and as you bought it new you can't say it was high mileage when you bought it!

Thanks for that Steve, just got to keep upto service schedule and double check mileage agreed with insurance company.

When the mileage goes up, buy a new tacho so you can seemingly half the mileage over the year. The b@@@@@d who I bought a previous bike (a Honda) from must have done!

Have a word with insurance company, I upped my yearly allowance from 6k to 10k with no added premium.

...oh and stone walls please???? :D

Road from Matlock to Buxton - near to the Buxton end where you have river on right and stone cliff on left.
The stone cliff is undergoing 'remedial' work intermittently.
I came through 3 weeks ago and they had steel netting and traffics lights in operation.
Came through the following week and big pile of wet leaves strewn across road - some poor bugger seems to have come a cropper on the slippy surface.

Yep Alane it is still there, ive got a way round it that byepasses that part of the A6. Got a cunning plan:D
