The LANG WHANG A70 from Carnwath to Edinburgh is one of my favourite roads. It's usually very quiet and has everything.Fast straights, dips, fast corners, slow corners and has recently been resurfaced.

We live in Scotland, well the lucky ones among us do, because just about every road in Scotland is a great biking road. There are too many too mention really. The A 92 is a great one, it hugs the coast from Dundee up to Stonehaven and beyond. Or how about the A 822 Dunkeld to Gilmerton.

A939/A93 - All of it in one or just parts, Grantown to Blairgowrie is an epic ride both the road and the views
A86 - Laggan Express - never fails to deliver even with caravans
A894 - Scourie down to Kylesku and onwards to Ullapool

Thats three of the best in the world all in Scotland

A few days ago I travelled down Highway 1 from Monterey to Cambria on the California Pacific coast. I think this is up there amongst the world's best biking roads and it was fantastic. Sadly we were in a "full size" Tahoe SUV, but it was still fast enough that most bikes (99% HD) were holding us up. A couple of BMW GS flew past and that was about it. What a waste!

The 101 is a great road, but more of a driving road imo - astonishing views of the Pacific especially around Big Sur and coming down into Santa Barbara but if i was on the Monster i would get bored with 55mph very quickly - OK for Harleys :lol2:

Another if you are ever in Germany is the B500 Hoch Schwatzwald Strasse. It's worth putting B500 Germany into You Tube and you will see why.

Yeah, that Hoch Schwartzwald road is an absolute beaut. Unfortunately it was raining the only time I took it.

This was my best memory of a trip to Italy in 1980. The Splugen Pass which crosses from Switzerland to the top of Lake Como. In 1980 it was not much more than a single track road and my mate who was on an XT500 wiped the floor with me and my Guzzi Le Mans. It was hopeless on tight mountain roads.

This was a great drive from yesterday. Not a place to ride a bike though - 115 farenheit in Death Valley.
