Diablo corsa

This looks like a bargain!javascript:ol('http://www.thefastone.co.uk/products.asp?cat%3d218'); I tried to paste it from my email but this is the best I could do! If you type this in your browser and scroll down to the tyres you will find it!

That's a bl*ody good deal I'd say (shows the mark up some people are slapping on the tyres!) I need a 170 rear though 180s just too fat for the Imola!

Which tyres?

Has anyone compared Diablos to Bridgestone BT014s . I have Diablos on the Duc ( because they were fitted ) and find them to be good if you get them really warm . But if your pottering or first thing when you set off I found BT0014's grippier at lower temperatures . Having chatted to Ade today he found the same thing . I was thinking of going for Bridgestones next change but this bargain is tempting . I also think I will go back to the fatter rear on the SPS for purely cosmetic reasons ( how sad ) but I havent noticed much diffrence going for the thinner rear.

Anyway your opinion appreciated .

Andy

Andy, If you look in the tech section you will see there are quite a few threads about 9** tyre choice and sizes, I was going to put a link but there are quite a few to look at! I am sure there will be the answer waitin 4 U:thumbs:

or how desperate some are to take money..........what's standard margin on tyres anyway? Surely we all know what RRP is? Get it if you can, discount if you can't! Pssss....anyone want some chain lube cheap? :)

if its any help guys i put a tenner on the cost price of my tyres then sell them.cost price equalls cost vat and postage usually about £6.50 and thats about all there is too it.

I used to buy all my tyres mail order and fit them myself but with modern bikes and low profile radial tyres this isn't really an option if I don't want to damage the paint on the rims.
I usually go up to Strathearn Tyres in Crieff who do a ride in ride out service at very competive prices, do the job quickly and efficiently and balance the wheels properly. all at very competitive prices.
I could buy these tyres mail order but then I have to find somewhere local to fit them and balance and it also means taking both wheels off the bike, which I can do having a front stand as well as the centre stand and an Abba stand but it's a hassle and how much would I really save.
I presume that there will be £10 or so delivery charge on the tyres, then there will be another £10 a tyre fitting charge which will have put the £140 mail order price up to £170 which is not that far short of the 180 odd pounds I might be paying for comparable tyres at Strathearn and unless the tyre fitters are specialising in bike tyres they probably won't be able to balance them and might well score all the paint on your wheels.
Unless I can be convinced otherwise I'll continue to by my tyres at Strathearn

derek it all depends on how you look at it did a pair of metzlers roadtec z6 for a customer at £178 it cost him £15 for fitting and balancing on loose tyres (not by me i hasten to add) which took him to £193 the best quote he had in edinburgh for the same tyres was £225 before fitting so he still saved at least £30...... it can make quite a difference to a yearly running cost.tho i have to say. you should go with what your happy with

Yes I guess so. If I was sure I could get somewhere to do a good job of fitting and balancing them up here then I might give them a go.
But until then I'll keep going to Strathearn - who do a great job at great prices and I can't speak highly enough of them.
