:flash::flash:
just read that the knobs in brussels changing the mix for unleaded petrol ,
old mix max 5% ethinol --new mix up to 10% more (eco friendly right )
they are at present continuing with the standard lead free fuel alongside the new mix but i have no doubt that they will discontinue the old mix in the near future.
this means older bikes will have dire effects due to the new fuel.pipes perishing ,tanks un-bonding causing the gunge to go into the engine a real mess .
make sure to fill up at the right lead free pump !!!
anybody know if there is a answer to this :comp2:

by old i mean pre 98 bikes and some younger ducs as well

Its a well documented problem and its not just historic vehicles that will be affected, for us, plastic tanked Monsters and sportclassics will have some quite serious issues, these are well documented in the US where E10 has been causing problems for years leading to the sportclassic owners arranging and commisioning alloy tanks to be built at great cost as Ducati refused to fix the issue and merely replaced the worst affected tanks....which then promptly spread again.
I expect Ducati UK to wash its hands when it occurs here and I personally will not buy another bike with a plastic tank.

Make no mistake, this is nothing to do with green issues, its driven by the hugely powerful US corn lobby and the fuel companies 'watering' down petrol while charging the same amount. It about the money.

Possibly no need to panic just yet though.
It seems the government are aware of the issues.

There have already been problems with plastic tanks in America which have yet to be resolved. In some cases the tank was replaced only to warp again.

I have contacted DUK about this in the past but will be asking the question again.
