Extra carriage charges to Scotland

I just bought a new chain and sprockets for my bike. I was going to buy them from B&C Express until I found the carriage was only £3 to anywhere in England and Wales but £8.60 to anywhere on the Scottish mainland and £10.35 to the islands. Now can understand an additional surcharge for delivery to the islands but £5.60 extra just to cross the border is a bit much.
I ordered from Apex Leisure. The total cost was in fact 35p more but I felt better about it. :D

Derek,
This is a bone of contention on a permanent basis in the North. First thing we check is additional delivery costs to "The North of Scotland". The boundary starts anywhere from Glasgow to Perth depending who is delivering. I ordered a set of wheel and tyres for the car a few weeks ago and the price was £25 delivery "anywhere in the UK" according to their advert. When I ordered he phoned back to say it was an additional £35 because of where I lived. On a point of principle I cancelled the order and spent £50 extra and bought locally.

You lot ought to be on International Rates anyway, what with Scottish Nationalists, desire to be free etc. :D

right I'm off to lie low for a while...........

Yes and what also p1sses me off is when they will deliver to Aberdeen at their standard rate but want an extra fiver to deliver to my home because of my postcode. Yet the main road to Aberdeen is only half a mile from my house. They have to drive right past me :mad:

Have you ever thought about ordering parts from Harry in our place?:)

We stock a wide range and fortunately are in Scotland!:D

Mart:D

I did actually get a part from you last week. Ordered one day and arrived first class post the next. Excellent service. Will be checking out your chain & sprockets prices tomorrow.;) I assume the price quoted will include delivery and fitment!!:D

If you order something and it is sent by Royal Mail then the charge will be the same everywhere to the UK and NI, If the seller uses a courier then quite often the courier company will send it to their nearest office to you and then use Royal Mail for the remainder of the journey to deliver it because it will cost too much to deliver it themselves. They pass the extra on to the buyer.

B&C express are great guys,I also commented on the postage and they deducted the extra from the kits I was ordering and I have never had to wait for any stuff from them....100% top

A good point Martin and to be honest I just never thought of it. I order all my service items and Ducati spares from Harry and the service is second to none. Next time I need something I will give Harry a call and get a quote first.

support your local dealer and he wont take the @@@@ out of you with excessive post charges:D

edinburgh or glasgow is more local than bloody south of the border
Yes, but even Edinburgh or Glasgow means mail order to me, albeit not from down there. I thought you just sold helmets, clothing and accessories.:o
You've been unusually quiet recently. Have you got your bike fixed yet?
