Also, diagnosing a fault isn't always as straight forwards as just reading a code.
In the summer my bike had a complete electrical failure, it was as though the battery had been removed, absolutely nothing electrical worked. It came back to life once I got it home and then died again but I got a 4.1 air temp sensor fault code.
This was unlikely to cause a complete electrical failure so I started checking at the battery, all good. Next I unplugged and replugged the big connector above the battery box, just the dash came to life. Hmmm
Cleaned the connector pins and everything works, even the 4.1 fault code had gone.

If I'd have found this earlier I could have avoided the heckling from all the slack jawed riceburner owners stood watching as old Giallo Veloce was pushed into the back of a van*, even a KTM owner joined in
