For you guys with Sport Classics

...I know I'm gonna get shouted down for this, but why spend a lot of money on a bike and then go and spend a fortune changing the way it looks? IMHO it is a sure sign that the original design wasn't right in the first place.

but hey, what do I know about making modern bikes look 'retro'? :)

Ed, the seat on the Smart is not that good a shape for riding, I find it really hard to hang off and end up with bike too far over, I've touched the pegs down which suggests i need bike upright and me over but its difficult when seat forces you into wrong place. I would be interested in a narrower shape which that links does seem to have, I'd have preferred to keep the original style but can't see how it would be possible without changing the shape however that unit exposes too much of the rear subframe for my tastes but if you want performance its probably the only way to do it.

Michael, you aren't the first person I've spoken to about this, and after riding both Sean's and DaveG's SCs, I agree with you. In fact I find it way way too fat for the kind of riding I do. however, the original seat, like wot I got, is too narrow so when you're hanging off your thigh is the only bit that's on the seat. I'm not worried though, never stopped me. :)
 
I think that looks way better than the standard fitment.

Michael, you NEED that for your bike. I'm sure you could pick one up cheap next time you are in Japan!;) :D
 
I think it looks more in keeping with the style of the bike and I found the seat too wide when I rode one too.
