Has anyone had a race paint or vinyl wrap?

It's good to have a choice and the ability to leave standard fairings alone and have a new cheaper race set or a vinyl wrap or simply paint your originals always helps

Have you changed the look of your bike with any of these, how did you find the cost, fit and application?
 
I'd be interested in people's view's/experiences with wraps. I have a set of race fairings that need either a paint job or wrap over the off-season (which is summer - not much fun spending a day in the leathers in 40C+ heat).

My old bike, the 998S had all the graphics stencilled in and hand painted on its carbon panels and did look the part,
The 959 has had a vinyl wrap and looks equally as good. The only way you see the difference is when you run your hands over the paintwork. Hand painted, £2K plus Vs vinyl wrapping at a quarter of that price. Bit of a no brainier really... Get bored with one and change it for another. Sell the bike and leave everything back to std.

What about for track purposes? Either way I'm not going to get an expensive wrap or paint job. So as to durability taking into account the usual ventures in the gravel or minor low sides. With paint you get a bit scratched up and quite often with a cut polish and buff you can get most of it out.

But what about a wrap? Does the material tear in that situation so there is no way you can make it good? I'm just not familiar with wrapping - I think I can get my race bike looking much better with one but need more info.
 
I am considered this right now. A full wrap inc dayglow colours just shy of £500, any number of colours and whatever design or race rep copy you fancy.
Very tempting.
But, I am also looking to buy some wets on wheels which TBH are more important.
So, guess who’s gonna get the rattle cans out and commandeer some warm part of the house when the Mrs’ is out?

Track only so the wrap can wait. I will intro the finished bike to the forum in the early Spring.

Same really... as soon as the vinyl is damaged, that’s it. Could get lucky and just replace the damaged part with more vinyl.

Sublime Designs store your design once ordered so if you have a spill you can replace the damaged sticker. Which is pretty neat.
 
You couldn’t get the same design by paint for what you can achieve with a wrap - not really pensive and can hide a multitude of sins underneath
 
This is just an example but what about the chinese made replica fairings? They would seem ideal for track bikes whilst you put the original bodywork in the loft, I've seen some on road bikes too and most aren't too bad

They're a good option if you want to do track days and not risk your OEM's. But they're not suited for race bikes (or would require modification) as they don't meet the regs eg. an enclosed bellypan.

100% agree. The thing with wraps as well is the only real limitation is your imagination and when
Your fed up with it rip it off and start again. Some are clever and some just look shit

which like the other 'gauging interest' posts on there are code for I want to sell don't want to say a price but can someone offer me a huge inflated price please.....
