Insurance time again

You fellas in the UK don't know how lucky you are with insurance. My insurance renewal was emailed to me yesterday, it's due to run out midnight 13th Feb. I start researching to get some comparative quotes.

1. There are only 4 companies that provide bike insurance in ROI,
AXA
Liberty
Carole Nash
Prinicipal

2. The latter two are brokers who usually end up pushing AXA policies - so in reality there are only 2 insurers :(

3. I phone Carole Nash and Prinicipal on the off-chance they may be able to help (I'm presently with Liberty) and as many other Ducati owners here in Ireland tell me they are with these two companies and how great they are. First question each asks is:
'when is your insurance due for renewal?'
'14th Feb' I reply
'sorry can't help you we can only quote within 30 days of your insurance being due, fuck off' (well they didn't add the last two words but that was the implication; I was wasting their time), this after waiting ages in a virtual queue to speak with someone - annoying or what .

4. I phone AXA - This time there's no option for bike insurance it's press 1 for car, 2 for van and all other commercial, 3 for farm and 4 buisness. Press 1 and wait ages again for a human being. 'Nah, sorry mate, can't help, we don't do bike insurance I need to email someone and get them to call you'. Clearly, it's a big part of their business - NOT.

So i just wasted almost 2 hours of my life - I could have been re-roofing my shed 😁

It seems to me there's an opening for another company to provide insurance in ROI.

Get in touch with Bemoto and tell them the situation. With competition as weak as that they could set up in Ireland and take all the bike business in the country.
Useful and perhaps worth a call. FYI there used to be another company MCE who are UK based but provided insurance in ROI. They stopped writing new policies in ROI in October, blaming it on the uncertainties of Brexit. Certainly on the face of it it appears there may be an opportunity. The other thing is that although multi-bike policies are supposedly provided it really consists of several single bike policies with a common renewal date, the only discount you get is the NCB on your first bike is applied across all others. Typically, here in ROI your NCB is personal to you AND a single vehicle. Try to insure a 2nd vehicle and you have to start from zero NCB again :( . I reckon there's an opportunity for a Rider's policy, like the one Norwich Union used to do ie you, the rider, are insured based upon your risk rating and that of your highest insurance group bike, everything else is covered at the cost of just fire and theft.

Agree, I go fully comp as 3rd party is generally the same price 🙄 how can that be? I never take any of their extras like legal cover - image who you might get 😳😁
It was worth going third party on the little Daytona and marginal on others. Why? To push you into spending the extra money of course. Just like a glorified bookies.

To add insult to injury, Liberty (my current insurer) very kindly work out my premium, after various discounts eg., NCB, Rider Skills Assessment, loyalty bonus, having another vehicle insured with them and then, having calculated the bottom number they fecking increase it by adding a ‘minimum premium adjustment*’. Read the fecking footnote and it says;

* Minimum premium applies. The minimum premium is the lowest amount we charge for insurance cover.

What’s the fecking point in getting any further NCB or discounts for skills etc?

Thanks 👍. No, they’re not insured under a multi-bike policy, as you say Liberty don’t do that. All Liberty will do is apply the same NCB and other discounts to each of the bikes, BUT hike it up on each one to meet their ‘Minimum Premium’.🙁

I will try Carole Nash again after the 15th when I’m inside the 30 days and they deign to speak with me. I did try them last year but Liberty were cheaper and as for AXA 🤣🤣 ffs I may as well wait until I win the lottery before considering their premium if it’s like last years.

It’s just the lack of competition and this Minimum Premium policy bollx that hacks me off.

Is anyone on this forum in the insurance game ?

It does frustrate me with caroles gash that they make you go through hoops and waste your time only to tell you st the end that they wont/can’t insure you. A simple “we can’t proceed sir” would be quite nice.

What made you decide to sell the V4 and buy the Pani R EJ?
Depreciation on V4 too high.
V4 was an S, not an R
The twin is narrower at front of seat and much easier for me to handle.
The R is the best Pani ever IMHO, looks, performance, spec.
