No mention of the Brno GP? (don't look if you don't want to know the results)

Freak

Is it still summer?
Well?

Loris leading from the first corner to the chequered flag and putting something like 8 seconds into Rossi and the chasing pack mid-race, eventually down to 4 seconds by the finish, absolutely astounding display from start to finish.

Ducati/Bridgestone and Loris showed the world yesterday when a package is right it can't be beaten, great stuff.

Also glad Hayden came nowhere and the championship is still potentially up for grabs, he needs a DNF me thinks to stir things up a bit :D

Watched it live.

Still pinching myself - can't believe the absolute dominance wee Loris displayed.

I half expected our year to be over, but since the wee man is back on top form I think we can expect some more of this

But, please Snr Minoli, for next year can we keep Loris but give him a team mate that can support him?

That second bike would be as well in Museo Ducati!

would be great if the rumours about ducati going for xcasey stoner are true. i think he will be a champion many times over

Sensational result from a tough wee guy who was nearly battered to death in Barcelona !. Interestingly, it was at this point last season when Loris (and Chucker too) started putting in some great performances. Let's hope he can do that again. His motivation must be sky-high.

Shame that Shuggie Gibermullet wasn't fit to race as it would be even better to see two Ducs on the podium like we saw last year.

It'll be interesting to see how the 800 bike goes....

please see my comments on the DSC forums last year :) Melandri would be my choice it was then and still is.

That was only Loris's 7th win in Moto GP, amazing really as he deserves more, where would he have been if it wasn't for that crash earlier in the season ? :(

We all knew Gib would go backwards...

...next season Loris needs a young gun in the garage to pass his experience onto, Casey, Melandri would be good

Gibs gotta go.

Stoner is a good choice, he's a raw talent and would be a good catch for Ducati, plus he's a nice guy going back to his 125 days in the UK.

Melandri is and has proved he can win and again would be a stonking choice but will he be able to adapt to the V4..... he didn't have a good time on the M1 a few years ago, maybe Honda is the bike for him?

I think Stoner would be the hot pick - but he's currently courting everyone. I'm not sure if the Ducati chequebook would be tempting enough. Wouldn't Honda want to keep this rising talent on their bikes just to stop anyone else from snatching him?

Melandri - that would make an all Italian team, which I guess might be attractive in its own way. Even though, I'm not certain he's the right choice. He's only shone a couple of times I reckon.

Instead of snatching from the already established pool of MotoGP riders, maybe they should be looking to who's hot in 250's?

Also, remember - they've not yet signed any riders for 2007.

We may yet still get Shuggie Gibbermullet signed again :fou:

Agreed, Hayden is good (sometimes) but no way is he world champion material and to be it this year would be unjustifiable. Best package maybe but certainly not the best rider. We know who that still is and it's not the Steve Davies of MotoGP. Shame they couldn't get Rossi on a Duke.

Wasn't there an article in MCN a few weeks ago where Stoner was in talks to replace Edwards at Yamaha next year, but Rossi had put the boot in to stop it?

Yamaha I think offered him a satellite ride on the Tech3 bikes but he was quoted as saying he's with a satellite team now (LCR Honda) and said if he did move it wasn't going to be to another satellite team, so that could be an opening for Ducati/Kawasaki I guess???

there was Jon but Rossi denied it.
IMHO Stoner isn't the right rider, he's crashing too much and he needs to string a few races together staying on before considering him. Melandri has proven he can race and fight with Rossi, he's not scared of a dice and just like Loris is one of the few riders Rossi doesn't out psyc. Pedrosa got his head done in on Sunday when he realised both Vale and Haydon are prepared to go that little bit further than he is racing man on man, by himself and with a clear track he's got the skill to time trial away but tis different racing

The only 250 rider who could move up and do well is Jorge and I thought he'd committed to another year in 250? maybe Dovizioso as well but i don't think a 250 rider is what Ducati need.

melandri has the experience now and proved he can do it, i know where my budget would be heading

Dunno if Lorenzo has committed for another year in 250, but he has got the aggression that's needed to win for sure, be interesting to see him against the likes of Rossi, Capirossi and even his old sparring partner Pedrosa in the big class

yeah, fairly certain they have said Lorenzo is sticking it out in 250 for another year. Shame as he could be another new talent to put pressure on some of the old boys.

What about the comments that Toseland may come into GP... please say it won't happen :( Nice guy and all that, but lets get someone either proven or yound fresh and keen!!

not sure he has the experience needed to develop a new bike, its a different job next year and i think 1000 cc experience would be useful, ok loris has that but if they are to get on it quickly its better to have 2 experienced riders, Honda / Yamaha have more teams and more data to work with.

Ah but if you ever read John Hopkins column on crash.net he puts over a good argument why Honda pushed for the 800's.... basically to make it easier for the 250 guys to come up to the big class, lighter higher revving bikes very similar to what they're used to and Honda have a lot of guys in the 250 class.

if that is he case its going to backfire on them. if the rumoured lap times on 800's are faster than moto gp already is its going to like riding an old 500 screamer with even faster corner speeds, even with traction control those things are going to rev and will still be chucking out very similar horsepower, first year all the old 500 boys will be quickest to adapt and have the fewest highsides ! this generation of bikes has been the easiest to swap to, i'm not sure the 800 will be as easy. only Pedrosa has managed so far, Stoner is there 50% of the time and the rest all took a few seasons ( other than Vale). Its usually about track time and hours ridden nd most 250 riders won't have had time developing a bike, they just ride what honda or Aprillia produce.

Which makes it all the more intriguing to hear Max Biaggi's name still being mentioned...

and what exactly is wrong with the roman emperor? i believe him to be a thoroughly nice chappie who can ride a modern motorcycle passably well.

I recorded the race as I was busy on Sunday! - brilliant - the 250s were brilliant and the 125s were ok.
I deliberatly didn't want to look on here or talk about it in case I found out the result before I had seen it! :)

Ferrari checked the motor?

I heard Ducati gave their motor to Ferrari and asked if they could suggest any improvements. The reply apparently was that it had at least 20 bhp more than it was possible to get from that configuration!
Not too surprising I suppose since Yamaha helped Ferrari develop a 5 valve motor like Yams big single that can give 70 bhp with no reliability probems for road use.
