Piaggio to close Moto Guzzi

With the Mandelo factory shut down awaiting refurbishment and the Moto Guzzi museum being moved their are rumours that Piaggio won't reopen it and only closed it to avoid paying redundancy

As an owner (for a short time) of one of the later Guzzi I wasn't too impressed by MG's build quality or Piaggio's customer service but they did offer an Italian alternative to buying a BM and it would be sad day if the factory was too close or the brand go forever

Thought the new models were a big step in right direction and am/was (now) seriously considering buying one.
I suppose no-one should be surprised given the history of the Italian bike industry but I had the feeling there was a renewed demand for the products.
Not good news.
