No it isn't about them and feck'em! (I was just trying to sign in to see if I still could and mostly failed!) but the real issue is next bike.

Although Fowlers dropped Guzzi after the tale I gave a while ago, the V100 is still on my mind and my closest motorcycle dealer (Frasers) does Guzzi as well as Aprilia.

So the question is: Guzzi V100 or KTM Duke for next bike. Probably in late Summer. I've got cash waiting (well Lloyds Bank have!).

So 1) part ex my KTM rc390 for Guzzi V100

2) part ex for KTM Duke 790

3) Sod part exchange and just get the Guzzi to cram in my garage.

This is all subject to, etc, etc, etc, but I favour the Guzzi, I've never had one before and it is an itch that wants scratching. And I could tour on it.

I think the answer is to call in to Frasers and get a test ride.

What would you do?

Actually, I must apologise for posting shit! I am not going to spend that much on a new Guzzi. Looked at used on Fraser's site. With them and Fowlers, there's lots of stuff that I would be happy with.

I cashed in a cheque for over fifty grand today. With that and my compensation still to come, my head is well screwed

I could do with a few cheque’s like that😇😎

@PerryL please change the title...... my hypothalamus keeps making me click on this thread; which appears to be a duplicate of most of your other threads?:rolleyes::oops:

What would you do ?

I would probably do what I have always done.

I'd trade in a bike that is perfect for my needs to buy something that wasn't.

The bike I had traded in would, after a year or so, become a 'classic' and sought after, therefore trebling in worth.

I'd end up hating the bike I now had and search round for something else more suitable, thus losing money in the process.

Hope that helps. :D

Out of interest are you thinking of getting a new bike ? Your current one is a 900ssie isnt it ?

No, I like the 900.

Haven't had it on the road for a couple of years but plan to this year. Fingers crossed and all that, time and money being a restriction for me.
All it needs is a service (Do I don't I decision on the belts, new fitted 2 years ago but sat there since) and the forks sorting.

Also have access to my wife's 250, which is fun on the back roads to work.

Why don't you try not posting shit for a change?

Anyway how are the beer tokens doing?

At the risk of putting a spanner in the ointment @PerryL I wonder if you have ever considered any other options ?
The only "option" is that I will probably buy used, rather than new. What? Nobody knows. European stuff is favoured, although I don't kid myself that anything is "really" made in Europe, I'll keep my two Ducatis but nothing in their range now really gets me. The Multistrada is the closest, but even the name annoys m. The only sensible place to ride one is a tarmac road, so this "many roads "thing is just a fantasy dreamed up in someone's pants!

I am interested in having a shaftie, so Guzzi interests me. Then KTM, Aprilia, or BMW, with Jap stuff last.

This would be just a "fun"bike, so not worried about range and luggage carrying, although some bikes (like Guzzis) would by more "toury" and I would buy luggage and tour them.

And I would only look to buy from Frasers or Fowlers as they are my two closest dealers and people there talk sense and I trust them. But no rush. I am happy with what I have and so time is on my side!

I will use my next tax year ISA allowance. Last year I used it to buy shares only and they have mostly done shit. Even one managed fund I used with AJ Bell has done shit and this is a fund supposed to be run be experts. I am bored of the roller-coaster journey now. Trouble is, share prices relate little to how well a company does and more to how the government fares. I refuse to be financially concerned with the useless bunch of shits that we have in power now. And when they get turfed out at the next election, I want to see some hard evidence that the next bunch will change things at the stock market. Most of it is just random guesswork, in my opinion. Two of the "safe" shares that I bought last year were National Grid and Severn Water, on the basis that everybody needs water and electricity. They have been amongst the worse performers, as the clever people at the stock market decided that there is no future in demand for water and electricity so the stock market price has tumbled. This sort of shit just makes me lose interest in the whole thing!

Trying to sort out my stash, and I "think" that I've bought another £1000 worth of PBs. Mainly out of interest to see if I can maintain my 100% record of never winning! I am aiming to spread things out so as not to be dependant on any one finacial provider. My chosen homes are Virgin Money, Coventry Building Society, Skipton Building Society, and Paragon Bank. Next financial year, I may start another ISA, but not sure who with. When I had a scan round, most paid less interest than I get from my existing accounts, so making it pointless. In April, I will have a more serious look around.

On bikes. I am still unsure if I will do anything, but just stick with what I have. I just dunno, but it doesn't really matter. The Guzzi is nice but too expensive new - well, more than I want to spend, so the KTM Duke , used, looks a possibility. I don't think that the BSA Gold Star (modern version) does much for me although I know that I can get off and on really easily, so it will be the backup!!

4pm and I am on the beer!
