Rare Ducati Engines

Cracking find. Would love to know more about some of the thought processes behind some of these.
Interesting the 500 single from 1975. Ducati had given up on the singles by then yet this engine seems to be a twin minus the front pot! Almost as if they were still not sure where they were going. It was only after they had decided to pull the pin on the singles that there was a late demand for them and I wonder if this was a panic reaction to missing out on sales potential?

I'd love to have heard that V8 - all those red heads too :):):)
The supercharged SS motor looks interesting but it would be a hard job getting it into a frame :(

That bevel single would have looked an awful lot better if they had blanked off the vertical cylinder, making it a flat single like an Aermacchi or the Moto Guzzi Gambalunga
Did you notice the fan-cooled single with a rear axle attached

Tissues at the ready.....

...love this sort of stuff, my favourites being the Bi-Pantah, the super charged 350 (although pointless) and the Dakar winning 904 motors. I love the expensive 'works' bits bolted to them like Mag. engine covers, cam covers etc.
I nearly built my Imola with a kick-starter from these engines as they are a relatively easy mod on my engine and the parts are available if you know where to look.

Yes, it would also have lowered the CoG which I would have thought Dr T would have wanted for handling. Must have been a reason though? Then again it didn't make production?

Handling was probably not the priority with this one!:)
