So, after a full rebuild over various lockdowns I have thoroughly enjoyed the 748 for a good thrash. So whilst changing the ST4S reg/rec I noticed there was old, dirty oil on the air scoop.
Dropped the fairings off and this was what I found. I didn't touch the engine or casings so this must be something I hadn't noticed before.
The finger pointing is not the casing nuts (which I was praying it was) but the stator case seal itself
it weaps after a couple of hours in this position and mists at high revs it seems. Oh cock!
On the plus side, I just changed the starter on the ST4S so I reckon I can have this done in an afternoon (not that I really wanted to)
