Scary phonecall

Good result Steve but even the CC companies don't make it easy do they?

All I did was phone Visa and sit back and wait. After what Stewart wrote I am beginning to think it is becoming more commonplace. The only thing is all these transactions leave a trail that the investigators follow to find the tealeaves responsible, so they should get them eventually.

The biggest problem as I see it is there is little incentive for the agencies involved to eradicate it.
The police see it as a lot of small (to them) problems and don't want to tie up limited resources pursuing a £2/300 crime even though the accumulated problem is huge. The credit card companies don't give a stuff as it is a perfect excuse to charge astronomical apr's on the cards they issue.
Maybe I'm just cynical of course....Oh meant to mention that the police had the address and name of someone in Manchester where the goods had been sent but that wasn't evidence apperently:confused:   Thought it was a bl@@dy big hint though.........

Tonight I checked my bank and there is a credit from Absolute Poker of £197.79! So what is going on? I wonder if the guy who opened the account got some winnings and they paid it out and it came back to my account? I have changed my card so the numbers are a bit different from the one they used. I think I will phone the bank and see what is happening and warn them not to pay any money out to AP!

I checked my bank account the other day and guess what..........04 Apr 07 Card payment to ABSOLUTEPOKER.COM £217.85 ....the B@st@rd has only gone and taken another $400 out of my account:eek: I emailed AP and they gave me a US freephone number to contact them on, this does not work for international calls so I emailed them my number and they phoned me back fairly quickly. Now I have a new card with different numbers and AP have blocked both numbers so they can't be used again. They told me that the person who used the card lives in Oxford but still used the first line of my address and he gave a different DOB to mine, surely this guy can be traced by is IP and get arrested?

I am on the phone to Visa dispute at the moment, so far I have been waiting 30mins, thanks for the info Paul I will ask about it.
