Intervals and costs?

Topic of conversation with a couple of mates was service interval and costs.
One has a blade and the honda interval is 3500miles
One has suzuki 750 and I think his interval is 4000miles
They couldn't believe the 999 is 6,000 and 12,000 miles

Which makes you think about the relative cost of servicing between makes.
By 40,000miles the honda has had 11 services and the Ducati just 6.

But then you factor in the 2007 ducati intervals and costs? What are they?
With the savings fund building up I reckon maybe next year go for a S4rs if they are still around but what are the new intervals and service costs involved.
The blurb says "upto" 50% less maintenance costs.
Can anyone list them?

Cheers
Alan

As I understand it the service is now much more mileage dependant, most Ducati's don't do 6000 miles a year so Ducati have reduced the amount of work needed at each service interval but if your bike does the mileage it'll need the same amount of work as before so for the average rider it is cheaper. Belt changes are still mileage and time dependant so your 2/4 year service will include that and you'll still need fork oil changes.

Ducati Glasgow website has a neat table at the bottom of the page which compares mileage and costs per model, very handy, more dealers should follow that example.

Thanks Mike. The Ducati Glasgow table is great help, but perplexing when you consider the costs of 1098 vs S4rs:
2nd year 6k/year service:
Monster: 377.50
1098: 368.76

In fact, in most cases the monster service is dearer than the 1098 service, yet monster has no fairings to speak of before you touch the engine.
Hmmmm, how strange?

they are totally different engines Alan, 1098 shares very few parts with the older testastretta engines and may require less checking or checking at different mileage/time intervals
