What have you done on your bike today?

Ok, i set up the injector on the bike connected to the fuel tank etc, fired it up and with a tourch watched the injector and bang on with a lovely reguler petrol spray, very reguler!! (y) So as far as i can see everything is working how it should, no blockages and a nice flow of fuel, WTF is going on?? There is a lovely strong spark on the spark plug that i checked a few days ago, all electrickery is all good, air filter all good!! 🤪

Starting to sound like a timing issue? I had a woodruff key fail on me once and so the timing was being set to the flywheel, correctly, but it was the flywheel that was the issue as it had spun around from it's position. Just a thought mate, and will be very easy to check with tdc mark and the spark plug out with a screwdriver on top of the piston etc…

I've got a diagnostic scanner ordered for hopefully Friday, find out wtf is going on with the ecu. If i had the money i would get a carb conversion kit from Hitchcocks. 🤷‍♂️

Oh yeah, I just saw that!👍 It wont pick up a sheared off woodruff key tho. Is the ignition timing detected directly from the flywheel? Or is it done from the cam drive up on the head. Or is it a pushrod motor?

Pushrod motor, i had a 125 Maico years ago in my twenties and that broke woodruff like they were going out of fashion, i got rid!! :)

As far as i can work out the timing is from the flywheel and the cam drive.

Compression? You need that too.
Oh, and A/F ratio has to be in the correct range.

Have you tried replacing the spark plug, might spark ok when outside the engine but not necessarily the case when installed in the cylinder head under running conditions. Do you have a spare plug?, if not it shouldn't be too expensive for shits and giggles.

Today i went out on the 996 and due to global warming i went out wearing my buff neck warmer, Dainese fleece and Dainese leather jacket with my winter gloves. The sun was out with light clouds but realy windy, i thought i would torture myself and ride up the A34 to Tot services and get a Mcdonalds Big mac meal as i'm trying to put some wieght on, so i'm on a intermitent junk food diet!! (y) From there i went across the North Wessex Downs then around Andover across to Salisbury were i got myself a Solero ice cream😋 then home. I'm not going anywhere near the Enfield today it's taken to much of my time in the wrong way, i'm hoping to get the scanner tomorrow for it then i'm hoping to find out wtf is going on with it.

Round trip to Ely to meet up with a couple of mates for coffee & lunch. Met at the Apex cafe on the Lancaster industrial site, used to be a WW2 bomber airfield, cafe rear garden has a memorial to 115 squadron crews lost - - - - -

Today my diagnostic scanner turned up and a nice new spark plug, i went to fit it and went to remove the metal cap off the top and it wouldn't budge. So i got a spanner on it then with pliers and the whole electrode came out ffs, fucking 8 quid down the drain. Anyway the amount of plugs i've used over the years that has never happened to me, it's like the bike just doesn't want me to start it!!🤷‍♂️ I decided to go to the garage up the road for some more fuel for it, what a nightmare, theres been two accidents on the M27 so it overspills so the roads that are usualy quiet were nose to tail with traffic and i'm not going up to Burseldon Tesco later because it will be a nighmare so i will walk up the road to the local Tesco.:)
I'm going to get another spark plug tomorrow as the bike nearly ran, it started for about 5 seconds so i'm getting close, i'm trying not to open the diagnostic scanner as hopefully i will get it going and i can send it back for a refund, i've got 30 days.

If you send it back you'll need it again. If you keep it you'll never use it.
Can't believe that spark plug, the whole eletrode came out!! I know, i've got a heavy duty drill i used for a job, only used it once and i've got a mig welder i've not used since my C90 got smashed up, 2016, i did use it a lot for fabricating bits, that will be the same if i sell it i'll need it!! :)

I lent my brand new mig to a mate years ago and never saw it again. 🙄
