When will it go bang?

I have a 748 and it almost has 30,000 miles on it.
What is the maximum number of miles someone has got out of these engines?
What are the indicators of an imminent engine demise?

Some are about with twice that mileage - look out for metal in the oil or nasty noises!

As long as you service regular and use quality oil and most important with the 748 engine keep the valve clearances set should last a long time.As mark says 45000 and still running ok.

I know of a few 2 valve engines with well over 100,000 on them. The 748 uses the same bottom end, so as long as it's regularly serviced I don't see why it shouldn't last equally long.

Looks like there's a few miles left in it as long as the previous owner looked after it!
