Will Ducati stay in Moto GP?

I can't see it myself, would be a very negative thing to do - that kind of "if I can't win, I'm taking my ball home with me" attitude.

Maybe they could start an all Ducati world championship, then they'd win every year! ;)

I am still trying to get my head around how they can produce a newish prototype that is a cracker of a bike but in all intense purposes is not very competitive (apart from when Stoner was riding it) in MotoGP...

but

Have an ancient bike (1098/1198) with many disadvantages in WSB over the other (newer???) bikes in WSB and kick ass?????

or is my ignorance showing a bit here?

Well, in a word, yes. :D

That asidel, yeah, whats happening?
The one thing i'm pleased about, (being a Stoner fan), is just about all the Stoner / whiny / nasty stuff has stopped and the Rossi fans loud cries are quieting a bit.
During the last season that stoner rode for Ducati and he was unwell there were unpleasant comments abound and Rossi could do no wrong, once Rossi got on board it was so refreshing to see that it really was the bike and setup problems.
Don't get me wrong, I think Rossi is great, very talented, he's getting on a bit now though in GP terms and there are younger and hungrier riders, Lorenzo has massive potential provided he pulls his head from his ass and realizes he's not all powerful.
One interesting comment in MCN, (don't normally get it but Ducati panigale and Duc special), from Massimo Bordi.
He says appointing Rossi to the GP team was a mistake and something he wouldn't have done because - If Rossi wins, it's because it's Rossi, if he doesn't, it's the bike, setup, etc
So like he says, either way Ducati GP team loses out.
I'd love to see any of the Ducati riders making a good go and getting some podiums but they clearly have some real gremlins to iron out in the Desmo, even when Stoner came back from his break and walked all over everyone at philip island you could see he was really fighting the bike at some parts of the track.

Ha ha wow....not sure what Ive done there then...taken two similar phrases with each with a different meaning but often confused...and I've somehow mashed them up to make my own one which made sense to me at the time but has now evolved into god knows what!!!!!!

DOH...........

Long as you know what you meant, who cares, :lol2:

Y'know, this has just reminded me of a conversation I heard between a couple of teenage girls in a cafe a few years ago, slightly different thing but repetitive use of a phrase.
I'm stood waiting for my turn at the counter, two girls in front bitching about (i don't know, shoes, handbags, another girl, a boy, their parents:dunno:)
and the one who's doing all the talking must've said
'so i turned round and said'
about 30 times in the space of 5 minutes.
normally i'm the quiet reserved type but I just couldn't help myself, i said, 'bloody hell, you must've been dizzy?', she looked at me all gormless like and I said, 'y'know, all that turning around?' she continued to look at me all gormless like (and was probably thinking all sorts of unpleasant sweary words at me, :) )
I grabbed a butty and a coffee and made a hasty exit before she finally thought of something unpleasant enough to verbally hurl at me.
:D:rolleyes:

Ha ha see what you mean now!

Jeez! that was real wit by me, albeit by my (very) low standards, & it almost didnae work!;)

Thanks for explaining it Mike......

If I remember rightly Robbie, you're a teacher, - obviously not English though...:D

Am sure Ducati will remain in Moto gp, however i wish they would consider reducing costs as regards moto gp and make more of a full Factory effort in wsbk, the Althea team with checa on board have performed amazingly given there size and budget.
One can only imagine how they might perform with Ducati corse co-ordinating the race effort and not just supplying parts.

Personally i think Ducati would be better, focusing there time and money on race wins, in a series we can all relate to afterall superbike wins! Shift products ie. superbikes!
lets face it despite the prestige not many of us will own road going gp replicas! Superbikes on the otherhand?
Move Hayden on he's only there to satisfy Ducati's biggest market (North America). If commercially it might be unwise, then simple answer fresh blood Ben Spies!

As for valentino well sorry guys i am a fan- but all this its the bike, its the bike is starting to wear thin, every conceivable effort has been made with the bike down to bolts and washers and still it dont feel right? UMMMMMM. unfortunately for vale the young guns are king now, lorenzo, stoner, crutchlow dovii.
Give it another season or two then go back to doing what Ducati does best, success on the track in wsbk, and development of there road going counterparts.

Sad thought but these days for vale, look done! Fingers crossed for Jerez though...

the second bit is usually one of the first things people figure out about me.....saying that..... a grasp on language isnt a requirement for what I do teach anyway though despite the usual perception most folk have of us in general......

:D

That was something else wasn't it, i was literally on the edge of the sofa watching that last lap, I rewound it and watched it twice, (gotta love sky+, :) ), even my missis who's an F1 fan and generally not fussed about GP was stunned when i made her sit and watch.

You have a point about Rossi and the age thing, when we heard he was going to Ducati and Stoner to Honda I wondered to the mrs then if he was seeing it as a soft option leading to a fuss free retirement and maintaining credibility. Fair play, I couldn't do what he does, he could outride me on a fizzy with me on the GP machine i'm sure but yes, there are younger hungrier players now.
I still think there are kinks needing sorting with the Ducati though, the problem with modern tech is it's a bit of a gambling game, remember the Britten V1000? that thing was incredibly well designed and thought out but the whole thing was so damn stiff compared to it's track competition they could not keep the front down on corner exits. had lots of potential though, real shame that one wasn't to be.
