I note that most, if not all, posts in this section are for other Italian bikes, however, last summer I bought a Kawasaki Z900 A4
, it had stood in a garage for 13 years and was (and still is) a non-runner, at the moment it is a bit of an "on-going" project, and whilst the bike wasn't in too bad condition, I am interested in buying any parts anyone may have in the back of their garage and want to get rid of.
Mine is an American import and was one of the last A4's built in August 1976.
I have a good idea about the price of new and used spares and I am prepared a fair price for any parts dependant upon condition.
Top of my wish list is a 4 into 4 exhaust pipe and a centre stand, 4 into 4's are as rare as hens teeth, and replica's are available, but I can always hope. There are still quite a lot of these bikes on the road, and quite a few parts still available (genuine and pattern).
So far the worst job was the carbs which were seized solid, I managed to borrow an ulrasonic bath off a mate of mine, strip each carb one at a time, and clean it in the ultrasonic bath, the results were amazing, they now look like a new set! At the moment the whole rear end of the bike is in bits, and all parts are being cleaned and inspected, I hope to start re-building the rear end as soon as I have polished up the rusty spokes on the sprocket side of the rear wheel, although work on this bike has tailed off whilst I start getting the Ducati's ready for the summer.
I will post a progress report when there is something to report.
