Pick-ups face huge tax hike as they lose commercial vehicle status

Massive changes to the benefit-in-kind (BIK) rules will mean that company car drivers will face a near-fivefold increase in personal tax bills for any such pick-up purchased from 1 July 2024.

No point using it to do a drive by in Liverpool unless it can go above 56mph. Below, they'll still have your wheels off.

What was your cut?
Oh how we laughed as two plain clothed, leather coat wearing, detectives came into said food establishment asking if anyone was missing a car - until I went to go home :(

the car was totally jinxed - the reason it was an easy steal was the end of the key had snapped off so the key was still in the ignition

worse still my then to be husband waved at the car as the robbers drove up the hill to Shaftesbury and wondered why I wasn't at work

the car had at least four punctures during my ownership - and guess who got the fifth - yes the robbers abandoned Chippenham way as it had a flat tyre

I was working in a meals on wheels factory at the age of about 19!

Chap who ran it always gave me work if I needed to earn a few bob - most the time I preferred not to work! But filling tin containers with apple crumble and custard had its advantages!

Ahh, the days before harrasment in the workplace was a thing...
