Anybody got any? 🤔

One of the young 'uns I work with is always dabbling in it, and is convinced he'll be richer than Jeff Bezos in a couple of years.

Anyway, I bought my 1st today, basically just to blame him when it all goes tits up. :)

I put a couple of hundred quid in to one today that he recommended, paid 64p per each whatever they are measured in. I have told him if they don't emulate Bitcoin and reach £30k each by years end, and I'm not sunning myself on my own Caribbean island, he'll never hear the end of it.

XRP. May also be called Ripple.

I haven't a clue tbh. He just said it was the one he believes in. 🤷‍♂️

Just checked and my £200 is now worth £197. I'm gonna slap him tomorrow. 👊
I have no idea how this works, can you actually sell it for real money??

My plumbers apprentice quit last week to go trading full time. He reckons he can make between two and four percent per day if he trades full time. He's 19 and has about a 20k pot.
My business partner has a similar sized investment that seems to go up and down like a yoyo but he's convinced it will come good and is investing some more money.

I can't get my head round it so I'm out.

I said before that I chucked £100 in bitcoin last year, bought through binance. It went up to £160 so I took my initial £100 out, the remainder is now bobbing around £40 - all a Brucey bonus 💷 getting the money out was a faff and took days as I'm sure the other funny money people (bankers and governments) are constantly trying to discourage us plebs from using it and making life difficult for the likes of binance.

PayPal also have a crypto option which is probably easier to use but then may nit be any use if you're looking to trade 🤔

Where I struggle with crypto is the ease with which new currencies are created. Bitcoin was all well and good, the principle, a finite amount, is sound (a bit like gold), the blockchain record keeping is sound. However, the currency’s value IMO is linked to its finiteness and therefore supply & demand for same. As soon as other, competing, crypto currencies are introduced, of which there are many now, the supply side increases dramatically.

Additionally Govt’s around the world are attempting to regulate crypto (abs they will ultimately succeed) and/or create their own digital currencies, all of which defeats the purpose of crypto.

It’s a pure gamble, just like the roulette wheel. I’d wager the plumber above will be back plumbing again within 5 years. Sadly he’s not alone and an awful lot of young, gullible, people are going to end up heavily indebted for the rest of their lives.

It’s not for me.

It appears to be a young mans game. I think they like the idea of making a fortune from the comfort of their own home. Evidently there is a court ruling due soon with one of the cryptos and if they win the price will go through the roof.

They like the idea of making a fortune from sitting at home doing nothing. Then, don’t we all?

The computer does the hard bit.
I'd still like to understand what it's doing, still you have a many trillions to 1 chance of getting a couple of hundred grand for free - what's not to like? Oh yeah, buying a fancy expensive computer every 6 months and burning loads of overpriced energy with much less chance of winning that the lottery :ROFLMAO:

Me neither. That's why I stuck a couple of hundred quid in it and intend to forget about it. I'm not putting any more in and I'll just see what happens.

It was part of cash savings in the bank earning 0.35%, so what the hell. If it goes belly up, not much lost, if it becomes the new Bitcoin and my £200 turns into £20,000,000, happy days. :)

Yes, but it’s a fucker to do.
Get a binance or bitpanda account, you can buy & sell fast but takes a mo for the money to come through.
Bit like waiting for the money to settle when selling shares.
Just downloaded the Binance app, looks more fun and easier to use than Hargreaves Lansdown.
That whole market is pretty awful today... may be a few large on a bit of a BitCoin and I'll stay off the Fruities tonight.
