Made it. The iconic view of the Transfagarassan Highway Romania. The transalpina was done earlier. Feels like hotel prices have headed Northwards. I put it down to BMWankers and @Skitz shovelling the breakfast buffet into their mid day nose bag ;);):ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

so this is a picture of the final wiggly bit at the top of the Transalpina. For the purposes of this post that Kawasaki identifies as a 2014 twin spark Multistrada. 25 deg in valley 7 deg at the top.

They are both great roads. The Transalpina is the most scenic.
Will you get as far as the Black sea coast?
Won't get to the Black Sea.

these roads were on my bucket list as is the Croatiian coast road. I had a look at Bulgaria and Serbia for something of interest but nothing floated my boat. So I'm going to call in at Sarajevo and do a tour, sniper ally, and the war tunnel etc as I remember it being
a shit show back in the day.

Probably re familiarise my self with the Grossglockner on my way back.

Croatian coast road is stunning but all 3 times I made it half way down before bailing to the completely deserted mountain roads towards medjegori (religious shrine) and back into Montenegro.. It's will be full of camper vans this time of year.. How far south are you heading?

Just like the NC500 then ;) . I hope to leave Sarajevo cruise past Mostar and straight line it into Croatia and ride the coast road right up to Rijeka, feel that sea air. I'll save Split and Dubrovnik for when I have the wife with me. I might even have watched Game of Thrones by then as well.
If you're going to Sarajevo then you may want to do Mostar at the same time?
Mostar is a big name from the war and I took a look at it. It was a while ago now so it's a bit hazy, but I didn't find enough to spend a whole day there . There is that bridge but parking up looked a pain and I'm not one for walking round in my clobber in July heat. Maybe next time.

Derdap gorge ( I think ) taken from the Serbian side of the Danube. This road continues for 25 miles or so and is good biking road. If your prone to taking speed limits as polite suggestions then it's a fantastic biking road. 35 degreeswhen I got to Belgrade I think I am the Gammon.

FYI or TIL, you should be able to do this tour on street tyres on 17 inch rims but I'm having my doubts. Road works in he eastern block are defo different to ours. At best they grind up the old tarmac waiting for new so your tram lining for miles on end, next there's lose gravel, today I was riding over 3/8 gravel not packed down for about a couple of miles. Now, my off road ability is dire so I was shitting myself on this crap with one very close shave. Consider adventure tyres if coming this way.

Another anecdote for you. Serbia has some very modern motorways integrated nicely into their trunk road system which takes you smoothly onto the new motorways. Judging by the pro China stickers on the bridges etc I'd say China have funded them. Thing is Garmin dont know about this because before you know it your little vehicle icon is in the middle of no where and your sat nav is having a meltdown cos it hasn't a fucking clue what's happening . So at that point your on your own.:oops:

Yup, that's China alright, they fund and build huge infrastructure projects all over the world, then a couple of years down the line, they ask for the capital to be repaid, knowing the country cannot afford it, so the do deals, buying land, mostly farm arable land or utilities, energy water you name it they'll have it. Even the UK
Chinese and Hong Kong-based investors have amassed a portfolio of UK infrastructure, with stakes in UK Power Networks, Heathrow airport, Northumbrian Water and Hinkley Point C Nuclear Plant.

And another thing whke I'm at it. O fucking 2. Yes go abroad, in Europe all your calls will be on your plan no extra cost, until you get to Serbia then you get a text say no data till you pay us extra, and your calls and texts will be an arm and a leg if you use them. So being a Yorkshireman I decided to cut my nose off to spite my face and thought bollocks ill ho off line for a day. Anyhoo, then I get to Bosnia and the bastards send me the same message cough up or no data. If I'd known Bosnia was in it too I'd probably have paid up but having missed out on Serbia I stuck to my guns. FYI I hate O2.
