I have always thought of a hill as something you can just stroll or drive up and a mountain needs to be climbed. There is a loose definition in wiki etc but it is not important. Highest mountain I have been up is in the Ruwenzori range in Kenya, at 13,000 feet. Which is nearly a thousand feet higher than our highest, Mt Cook. Mt Cook however is also only for very experienced mountain climbers as it has glaciers, crevasses and rock walls.
