Great start to the season, great result for Ducati, awesome to see rookies up there and the tec3 team, JT should do well when they get the new motor. Shame Rossi wasn't on the podium but hey, only race #1. Should be a great year for racing what with WSB being pretty exciting stuff so far :) :) :)

does it not make you wonder why the Ducati's are so far apart.....one good rider one not so good.......

JT should ask nicely and see if he can have a go of a proper bike!

Quite simply, an amazing start to the GP season.

Whilst JT certainly will be more of a force to reckon with when he gets a new donkey in there - he seemed to do very well without it. I wonder what would have been if the S/F straight wasn't so long!!!?

And how about that privateer Honda, Dovizioso!! Very, very impressive - stuck two fingers up to Rossi, and then some!

Going to be a great season!

Yep, great stuff! Shame DeAngelise (sp?) crashed out, always my favorite rider in 250

Brilliant start to the season, and fingers crossed we'll see more close packs of bikes like this throughout this year!

Toseland's fairing bashing with Lorenzo was interesting

Dovizioso was a star!

Are we ready for the barrage of excuses from Rossi?

Stoner has resumed normal service!

Great race to kick off the season.
Will be good viewing if this continues.
Thought the Ducati bikes looked good in the floodlights...seemed to have a deeper polished look about them.
Must say I hardly noticed the artificial lights once the racing started. But I was sitting in a comfortable chair with my feet up not lying across a tank at 200mph.

This season looks like being a belter. Would be much better to have two front-running Ducatis, though, so let's hope Marco M can get to grips. Stoner looked unbeatable this evening. Fantastic start. :D

From a Brit point of view, a great season is promised, with JT and the three guys in the 125s.

there were rumours last summer about JT and ducati. As seen at Misano around WDW time, a rather nice motorhome with a reg plate that suggested that it might have something to do with JT............

Stranger things have happened.....

IMBWAT but I think Melandri got the Ducati ride because Ducati had got some sort of retainer on him and they had 'loaned him out for the last few years because they didn't have a place for him in the team.

maybe they should loan him out again  great start to the season and brilliant tactics from Ducati to get the bike home, just. Tosland was awsome and the battles were brill. shappin up to be a battlin year all round.

Great result although I did worry throughout the weekend when Stoner wasn't on pole and the Bridgestone shod riders seemed to be nowhere...

JT did an amazing job, I'm not a big fan to be honest but it's great to see him come straight in act totally professionally throughout the whole weekend and finish with a solid top 10 just behind the doctor.

As for Melandri, I think he'll get there or at least I hope so, he's an amazing talent that has had a series of bad rides over the last few years but on his day he's unstoppable, hopefully he won't suffer the curse of the 2nd factory rider like Bayliss, Checa, Gibernau and finally Capirex last year.

You need to look at the whole picture and only one of the four Ducati's is performing, same as every year mostly the question is why? I think it's down to Stoner and his riding style the bike doesn't seem to be lending itself to other brilliantly talented riders god knows where Ducati would be without Stoner on board, probably buzzing round with the Kwaka's and Suzuki's I'm guessing.

Would be interesting if Rossi decided he wanted to ride for Ducati next year as he sees them as the best like he did with the tyre change to Bridgestone for this year. Yamaha were not winning races before he joined the team so he has proved he can easily adapt to a different bike and win on it.

Really enjoyed the racing. Good on JT, brilliant performance! but then again, they are all world champions really aren't they!! :)

Brilliant, but there's still dead wood in there still getting top rides, Hayden for starters. Why is this guy still on a factory Honda. He is so inconsistant, can't remember his last win. I hate it when Toby et al keep going on about him being a good rider when he's made progress from 14 to 12th. It's always the bike. Nice comment from Pedrosa though...not a truer word said.

Great racing at the front though but I hope the excitement is not always going to be the fight for the last two podium positions, while Stoner dissappears into the distance on his two wheeled exocet.

Makes you wonder where JT would have been had he been on a factory Yam? In front of Rossi I'll wager.

Think that's a bit harsh TBH, he won a world title 2 years ago the first for Honda since Rossi left.

You may as well get rid of Hopper, Capirossi, Vermuelen, Nakano, Melandri, Edwards, DePuniet to name a few then as non of them have won a championship in the big class

How many races did he win that year though. Not championship material. He won by default. If I remember rightly, Rossi failed to complete 5 of the races through no fault of his own and was only a few points behind him at the end. Up until then Hayden had only won the American series so how he got a Moto GP ride still amazes me.

Agree about most of your other choices though. Good on one offs but no consistancy. Don't know about Hopper though. Stick him on a good bike and I think he would be up there.
