Just visiting
Ok, so I didn't want to say a word until I'd pulled this one off but now that it has I can let the world of DuN know.
I arrived back this very early morning after a long but amazing trip to my old hunting grounds in Germany where I took delivery of my new toy.
I've been laughing and joking along with the rest of them about ownership of these things and how numerous they are getting but I can eat my words now because I now am the proud owner of my very own Desmo16!!!!
No I can't quite believe it either - almost as surreal as my Spitfire flight.
For the benefit of the Ducati dealers who advertise on here, I got a deal of the century from the Ducati dealer where I used to work in North Germany. And when I say a deal - I GOT A DEAL. I chose to have the decal kit and even wanted the Marlboro decal but decided against it in the end. I certainly didn't pay full price - put it that way. I have yet to re-register the beast in the UK hence the Rendsburg (RD) numberplate. (Job for Monday
)
I've got to admit the journey over there was just about the hardest trip I've ever made, I couldn't relax, I felt such tension from excitment, and when I finally clapped eyes upon my own bike I nearly wet myself! In fact that's a complete lie, I was all cool and calm (on the outside), I'm sure Mike, Stuart, Scott and Jon will know exactly how I felt and still feel.
I have got to say though, the hardest thing was keeping it quiet on this forum, I was desperate to tell everyone but then I thought it may upset one or two members as 1. they didn't get one & 2. I didn't buy it from my local Ducati dealer! But hey, I have alot of contacts still in Germany and the saving I made made it worth it.
The 'bits and pieces' are being couriered over as I just had to ride it back and I only got very slightly wet the once and then not enough to dirty it. Mind you the flies!!!!
So after an all too shorter sleep, later this morning I thought I'd put my two very special bikes together for a photo session - what a contrast!!
As far as the ride is concerned, well all I can do there without boring everyone is use Claire's analogy - O.M.G.!!!!
I've never owned a bike with over 100hp, I have well and truely gone completely the other way with this and I will probably never see it's full potential unless I change my name to Capirossi or Stoner!!!
So there you have it, the cats out of the bag! Oh by the way, for those of you who know my family, I sold one of the girls for medical experiments in order to finance this wonderful bike!!!
- and yes I can't stop grinning, from ear to ear
