there is more debris inside but I've not split the cases yet

:lol2::lol2:
Did Andy say you had it running when it was up at yours ?
More scary pics to follow i think......once i manage to get the other piggin barrel off
It only had sparks on one cylinder when Andy brought it up. I fixed that and got it running but it was but pretty smokey from the exhaust. I told them I wasn't interested in overhauling the motor. They got half a mile along the road when it seized - self destructed would be more accurate

another pic of the damage,I wonder wtf happened.

don't feel any play in the crank at this stage

Well I've managed to trash the clutch centre, broke a tooth off.I had it it jammed diy stylee as i tried to get nut off which I've come to the conclusion is impossible I think by yourself,I'm chasing the engine remains around the garage floor, trying to apply pressure on the bar and hold the block at the same time :D:D
Back to the drawing board.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this thread Col. Good to see you've worked up the courage to get your hands oily.

Do you want to borrow a clutch holding tool?

that would be great Mike:thumbs:

I don't think i would be so brave with this if I was rebuilding this engine to go back in:o,but its just a case of hiving any good bits off it .

If the roads in Livvy around about the office haven't improved much tomorrow, I'll probably work from home, but otherwise I can bring it in, and probably drop it off at your place on my way home - I'll let you know.

I've emailed you to Mike,I'll be online 1st thing tomorrow, let me know your plan:thumbs:

ta much

You can make a clutch holding tool by bolting a couple of old pressure/friction plates to a sturdy handle - sure I got pics/details of this forum....

Funny (but not in a 'ha ha' way) but I'm going through the same as you right now .... me bikes all ok (taxed/mot'd etc) but threw a camnut, which shredded the belts, and resulted in destroyed valves in both heads ... first check and the conrods/crank are still in one revolving set with no big end play and the HC pistons are scored but salvagable, so it seems that between us we could either make one good engine, or set up a spares dept for the DD boys :D .....

oh, if you find a spare 71.5mm crank, let me know ;)

Sod this,Mike kindly lent me his holding tool but I'm going to trash the nut too much if i carry on with the bar/brute force method, who the f*ck puts a bolt on with so little depth of head when soooo much torque on it is required:mad::mad:. (its a brand new socket)
Impact driver next, recommend me a cheap one that is up to the job :dunno:

note the garage partition, tough life when your garage is too big eh :D:D...just being a tight erse and trying to save on heating the place!
Have been a bit hung up stripping(stuck on clutch bolt) the engine,so haven't done much.

Stripped the frame off today, apart from the steering stem, the fooker won't come out(help)
I realise a lot of this stuff is food and drink to most of you Guys but if your a wee bit wary about getting stuck into your pride and joy get your hands on something like this and get wired in :D:D:D

Interesting watching the bike vanishing into component pieces but at the risk to appear to be asking a daft question...

why?

I thought the plan was to rebuild/replace the motor or have you given up on that and just going to break and sell the bike now?

The frame has the infamous Supersport fracture Stewart, get that sorted then get frame painted plus also the front subframe obviously needed removed/replaced(just spied one on ebay).
Engine is just strip off the good bits and sell, funds towards another engine.

This is what the bike looked like b4 i sold it to that :jerkoff:,Not Colin:rolleyes: Hugo,(friend of mine from Cadiz), i regret it big time, feel sorry for the thing, anyway Colin if you need a man to get that bolt out i could pop round tomorrow, although i have got a wee project myself as you know

look what the cat dragged in:finger:

If you don't get the front subframe from fleabay I "may" have one spare.
May be a week or so before I know if I need it or not.

g/b driven gear
004-43.jpg

haven't got a puller to get the crank primary drive off, want it come off nice and cleanly so I'll get a puller from the local motor factors in the morning(I've been in that much the last couple of weeks he has offered me an account :D)
005-43.jpg

few other odds and sods to take off,cam drives ,gear change mechanism etc then split the cases.

I'll get a puller on the crank primary shall i,nice Draper item not looking at it...guess it'll need heat.

These crank gears are notoriously tight to come off. Get the biggest puller you can fit on it, preferably hydraulic, refit the nut by a few turns, wind up the puller as far it will go then whack the end of it with a big hammer. The gear might come off rather violently hence the refitting the nut so that it doesn't fly off and whack you!

I should have explained more clearly - You don't whack the shaft, you whack the end of the puller.

Although many hydraulic pullers probably haven't got a wind up bolt you can whack
Hydraulic-Puller.jpg

so you'll just have to pump it up until it comes flying off - hence the need for refitting the nut :D

Aye i know, but ultimately your still whacking the shaft...
