Not a yellow/red argument

its wierd that some yellow ducs look cool
also that some red ducs look cool.

also wierd that sometimes the red/yellow mixture really isn't happening

and sometimes it does, :)

in that order

Are their any artists (not that kind) or art teachers / students on the forum

Could this have something to do with mixing primary colours

1st pic - Yellow, Black, SIlver & White - all looks cool

2nd pic - Yellow and Red yuk

but. . . .

3rd pic Yellow and Red mmmmm quite nice

All down to getting the right shades i suppose - Im sure someone will put up a pic of a VR46 baseball cap soon - yuk :p

Yes.
Not to do with primary colours.
Loads of books on colour science and its applications in libraries / on net. Too big a subject to type a proper answer. Next time you are in a supermarket note the colours used on the packaging of different types of products - food groups, medical, pet supplies etc, it's not just random.
Regards.

2nd pic- the red on the wheels seems to have a pink tinge to it and so is awful. The red clutch cover is too solid...neets to be open or with red plates & springs perhaps?

I have seen a few red bikes with yellow bits, and vice versa, and they do actually look pretty good as long as the bits that are the alternate colour are subtle (eg like the yellow shell stickers on a red bike or a red frame on a yellow bike).

Interesting contrast (and one that really works for me) is the red wheels on the 748 and 9** senna range

Just saying

whatever floats yer boat

That works Sam - I think if the wheels and forks were not gold it might not look as good?

The Germans call it Gestalt i think - Everything theory lol - The sum is more than the parts - which is right up your street ;)

:confused:I'll obviously have to re-think my colour sceme then for the 748 as i've got over the winter period a Yellow air box,Black fairing and a carbon seat unit(Don't know which colour to use or just leave as is).So i'm now neither a fan of red or yellow,i just like them all together,if it's got the name on the tank, disnae bother me.

Must admit, I struggle with yellow and red together - just check the state of the dodgy looking 46 bike in the attachment.

I was gutted when I had to use yellow number boards on my wee Ducati, it turned what was a nice scheme into a primary colour clusterf**k !

Check the link and you'll see what I mean;- LOUD! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v428/Mikesmad/3T5G1510wee8.jpg

Now I'm rebuilding, it looks like I'm spraying the new bodywork in the original Senna Grey, sounds boring but convinced its going to look :)

paint it black :D

Supermono Red with Yellow numberboards looks awesome....as anyone who has been to Francis's Ducati emporium will testify to...

I just bought a black 748 and for some reason it looks wrong which is strange as I like black bikes. It will be red with black wheels and screen.

I dont have to mention the colour of mine but like in my first or second post on here i did say i was going have mine painted in a red, orange, yellow blend or the other way round... I dont mind the rubarb n custard look, some ppl will get it right and some get it wrong, best do a ruff copy on paper 1st like i did with mine...

Hmmm next duke is going to be a new colour from the rest lol...

Is it something to do with the red and yellow being in the same tone band - as in the third picture - which seems 'right'. In the second picture the red appears quite a blue red and the yellow is a green yellow.

I'm sure slipperyweeguy could explain it much better.

winter yellowness

yes, its something to do with the matching of colours, some work in some peoples brain and some don't. mmm ?

Here's a pic of the yellow guy , which to be fair looks cool

and here is a pic of another guy, more black and it could be said it looks Mean !!

and hes' got a tiny bit red on him, maybe the wee bit blue is the distraction

ah the winter :)

Reminds me of an Indian board track racer; go on, stick a V twin in it!!:D

You are not far off - I have another donor bicycle in stock and a Cyclemaster engine that I plan to mount in the 'V' of the frame rather than the rear hub. The engine has a V5 so I should avoid any scrutiny as to whether or not it is a 'real' Cyclemaster. Only trouble is that I think the V5 is 1983 or something when the Reg number was robbed so maybe I will need to get a note from the NACC and get an age related plate to exempt me from MOT (and VED). No shortage of ideas here - just time! :D

no red or yellow and a Tigger tail

no more rid/yella sketch, in the best colour and the best Ducati, :) with donald murray, (big white Aprilia )
