Exhaust modifications???

Hi guys

Does anyone know where I can get an exhaust modified ? It’s a carbon Akrapovic that I want shortening by 100mm and a new carbon cap riveting on. I have all the bits and can post or drop off if local to Warrington Cheshire
 
It's quite a common mod on the Tuono V4. Easier than you think and definitely something you could tackle if you feel confident.. (y)

I dropped it off before Christmas, it will be ready in the new year. I’m stripping it down over the winter for a deep clean and big service. Doing the oil and filter myself and taking it to AP in Tamworth for a valve check. I did the brake fluid last night which was surprisingly easy, it’s got a Brembo RCS 19 master that are really easy to do it on.
 
I’ve been doing bits on all the bikes during lockdown and really enjoyed it. Oil change done on the Hypermotard and RSV4, along with fitting lots of bling bits to all three

I think I’m going to have a go at doing the belts agd fiuting the starter cable upgrades that Exige supplied. If anyone had an idiot guide for a belt change it would be appreciated, particularly around getting the belt tension right 👍

Belts. This guy has 3 x 10-12 min vids showing you how to do it on a 4 valve - worth watching them


Then there's this, on an engine similar to yours


You'll also need the Gates Carbon Drive app to check and set the frequency of the belts once fitted.

It's not difficult just a bit fiddly if the engine's in the frame and always nerve wracking the first time (y)
 
I might just get my mechanic to do it, I’m the guy who once put Superduke 990 frame protection in the swingarm pivot 🤣🤣🤣
 
Ah sure, it’ll be grand 👍. Take no notice of Everclear, you simply turn the engine over by hand (plugs out) once done and make sure there are no ‘metal hitting metal’ noises from within.

Provided you mark the old and new cam belts properly and count the teeth between marks several times to double & triple check you’ll not go wrong.

My lineage is complicated😕 although I’m definitely a Celt. I do now live in Ireland yes, but was born & brought up in England. My Mum’s parents are Irish having emigrated to London for work after WW1. My Dad’s parents were Welsh who also emigrated to London sometime in the 1920s. I feel more at home here than anywhere else and have dual nationality so can be Irish or British.

As for the list of Ozzie racers I can counter with Dunlop (Joey, Michael, William, Robert), Alec Bennett, Reg Armstrong, Martin Finnegan, Stanley Woods, Ryan Farquhar, I could go on. I’d like to add John McGuinness who with a name like that ought to be Irish but he’s not, he’s English. All of those listed above are road racers or raced in GPs when GPs were held on public roads rather than race tracks so full respect to them as it takes serious balls to ride at 170mph plus with stone walls & lampposts as your run-off points.

Phillip McCallen deserves to be on that distinguished list WCP. A very hard man/racer.
