Aberystwyth

In my lazy day of doing nothing (just like any other day, really) I am thinking of trups, or even TRIPS.

Maybe later this year in September, or next year, Aberystwyth comes up. First, I was looking to move there, but that idea is stupid as I can't do a move due to not being assed to pack my stuff and as my place is just right for me, so next, I thought about a stay. Also it is not that cheap to buy and I fought that Wales was cheap!

I can get there by motorbike (when I get my endurance up), car, or even train.

Looks OK. Anyone know it? It looks good and people do go there for holidays, apparently

There are nicer places along the coast south to Cardigan.

Train - definetely not, and that's before looking at the fare which I estimate to about the same as flying to Ireland.

Over five and a half hours including changes at two of the worse station that I know - Gloucester and Birmingham New Street.

It would be better by bike but as I will probably be doing some waking and can't take my hiking sticks on the bike, it would most likely be car.

OK, for a laugh, what is the fare? £133.80 for an off-peak return. So flying to Ireland is cheaper!

And had a think about the hiking poles.

I used to have this thing that most oldies who use walking sticks don't really need them. Like the guy that I used to see (may be dead now) who would walk three times faster than me swinging his walking sticks up and down, as though they were trophies. I am convinced that they become an old peoples' crux that they never move on from.

I have to avoid that trap. I never use them in the house but only when going out. Tomorrow starts with me going for breakfast at the Berkeley Tea Rooms. Normally, I take the hiking poles without me thinking about it. Tomorrow, I need to think about it and leave them at home.

I may consider something like that if I don't make progress with nothing.

I know the route up to Llandovery as we used to go there to that bike place for breakfast. Rude not to do it on a bike, really.

But the good thing is (whether or not that "Exercise on Prescription" bollox ever comes through) is that the walking needs to be improved. I have been putting off walking locally because of the shit state of the pavements, but this is ten times worse for me if I rely on poles, that can go into gaps and holes, and then unbalance me. As long as I make sure to remember to pick up my feet, I really do think that I would be better without any aid.

Also, when I go to the Theatre or cinema, there is not much walking involved, but those sticks just become a right pain in the backside, finding somewhere to put them. So if I don't succeed in coping without anything, those collapsible sticks would be better, definitely!

I woz running late to get to the coffee shop before they stop doing breakfasts, so I took the hiking poles to get there quick.

On the way back, there was no hurry (although it was supposed to rain, but didn't) but I still need to use the poles. I will take them to Worcester. Just need to keep practising.

I think that I get optimistic about my recorvery, coz now, back home and sitting, my replacement hip aches. No big deal but I need more patience!

Got an appointment in November to see the Wimbledon twat who couldn't seee me in June. This one is November. As it is not tennis shit in November, I could stay in Wimbledon, but to be close to that pub near Putney Bridge may be too tempting. The hotel was shite, but the beer at this pub was as good as you can get!
