It makes me wonder about the effect of prisons. There's no doubt they are universities for crime, and the amount of re-offending suggests they're not a deterent.

Would scrotes like this be better being put to work picking litter, or repairing infrastructure etc. Something that they will hate, but maybe learn the value in it?

Start them off with about three days in prison, so they can see what it's like but not get past the initial fear. Then put them to work getting some value out of them.

Yes, but return them to prison at 6.00pm, lights out at 9.00pm and off to work the following morning at 8.00am.

Too much trouble logistically, plus that’s another cost to the tax payer.
Just work them 14 hours a day so they’re too knackered to get up to mischief at night.
