I don't know if many of you read this magazine - previously Motorcycle Sport and looking like it's going to drop the "sport and leisure" bit but it is always well worth a read.
This month's has an article buy regular contributor Alan Cathcart on the 1098. A bit old hat now I suppose but Cathcarts articles are always well written and his inside connections with the factory provide a differnt insight. There is also an article by him about the BMW R1 desmodromic boxer racer that was going to be BMs weapon to wipe out Ducati in WSB in the mid-90's, but at the time it was too heavy and vibrated too much so they didn't develop it.
Thomas Wielecki has a story about a woman in Australia who was the instigator of the "Pink Ribbon Ride" and rides huge distances on a Ducati 750 GT raising money for the breast cancer charity.
There's lots of other good stuff as well including a regular contribution by technical specialist Kevin Cameron. I look forward to this mag every month. It is the only one with more articles than adverts!

Motorcycle sport and leisure, ahem , that sounds like a gentlemans mag, if you know what i mean. That or derek has got stuck in some kind of time warp where only he can find magazines with such titles. I'm sure its full of young ladies of the naturist persuasion talking about their camping trips and how to treat wasp stings in delicate areas:D :D :D

We haven't all got sordid little minds like yours Gordon :p :p :D

I agree that it's a crap title but the magazine is really very good. It used to be called Motorcycle Sport and has been on the go since the mid-sixties. A few years back it amalgamated with some other mag I'd never heard of and got this Leisure bit added to the title. For a while it was referred to as MSL but recently the "Motorcycle" bit of the title has got bold and the "sport & leisure" bit is in small print.
Anyway, next time you are in WH Smith or wherever it is you read the bike mags (I'm sure you don't actually buy them), have a look for it. You will be surprised at the quality of the articles and the pictures.

I have bought and read it occasionally over the years, although not recently. It is a little bit esoteric, niche market but a decent read. It is certainly not "Supertripe" or "Performance Hype" rasta journos, all barp and blast!

A Sordid Mind, A sordid Little mind.......aye youve got me on both counts there.................damn:D

I agree 100% Derek. Articles seem to lack any bias and are aimed at real world biking rather than pre-pubescent teenagers. I find it takes a month to work my way through it and I actually read non-ducati articles unlike the weekly comic when I only buy it if there are at least 2 Ducati features. Articles recently have included touring on the "new" GT when Rod Gibson went off round Europe. Well worth the money IMHO.

This is the best magazine as they judge each bike on it own for the purpose it was intended. I started reading it in the late eighties when I was at Uni. I only buy it every now and again but it's always a good read. On a similar thread I stupidly bet my wife, after returning from the pub a little drunk, 100 quid that the breast cancer thingy was a yellow ribbon. After reading this issue I conceded defeat gave her the money thinking she'd give it to the charity. How stupid am I ? She went and bought some clothes !

Motorcycle Sport. I'd forgotten about that one. Takes me back to the 70s when it was all black and white (if I've got the right mag) and there was as much on trials and scrambles as road racing. It was a great mag and I'll need to hunt out the modern version if it's as good as you say, Derek.

Hi
Being a newsagent I read most of the bike mags. This publication has some very good articles, although alot is touring based, but it is well written

Yes, the touring bit is getting a bit out of hand in the last few issues.

i remember the 70's db and although i was young i seem to remember them being in colour. i distinctly seem to remember post boxes being red and telephone boxes.yep things were in colour except for tv's.

I still think WW2 was fought in black and white;)

That was in the '70s FFS. It's come on a bit since then.
