Bit sexistI don't mind the back rest actually. You can sling a bag on the rear seat and use the back rest to tie it to.![]()
Don’t you start picking on the forums 87th most aesthetically pleasing bike
Yeah, it will have its uses. If you want to fit the Ducati accessory panniers you have to have the backrest tail piece, which I'm guessing is why the first owner fitted it. I'll live with it for a spell and see how I feel. It's not top priority. I've learned from long years of wasting money not to dive in and start changing stuff too soon until I've bonded with a new bike. I don't think that'll take long. Right now I just have to fit a Termi system and then I'll wind my neck in and it's back to dental matters...I don't mind the back rest actually. You could come to York for a cup of the forums finest coffeeWash-out this weekend but if you're out and about the following weekend give us a shout if you're up for a brew and a blat. KTM goes in for service and MOT on the 2nd June then goes up for sale and first flights get booked..
That means venturing south of Darlingtom. V V dangerous. There be southerners...You could come to York for a cup of the forums finest coffee️ , but I’m in Cyprus

I will be heading south to Nelly's for a Termi fitting soon so a coffee and a biscuit it York might be nice en-route. Alternatively, if you can dig out something reliable with wind in its tyres you could head up to God's county of Northumberland some time and have a blat through the biking magnificence of the north east with me and Rob.![]()

@Gimlet You wouldn't believe the lucky escape you've had here. His 'coffee' truly is the most repugnant liquid on the planet, not just Yorkshire.Just one sip will see you seeking out a local tramp, looking to lick their armpit to get the taste out of your mouth.

To get there from Consett I went the scenic route over the Pennines to Tebay and down the M6. Takes at least half an hour longer but it's so much nicer than slogging down the boring A1.I got my V4 from there. The dealership is ok but everything around it is shite.
We have the poshest Tea and the best Coffee, it just how it is...classy as fookCoffee, in Yorkshireyou trying to gentrify it

I had a totally different experience driving up from Nottingham. Once in Bradford the standard of driving was appalling and that says a lot after driving around Nottingham. To get there from Consett I went the scenic route over the Pennines to Tebay and down the M6. That meant to get to Shipley I had to go through Saltiare. When the sign said welcome to Bradford I was expecting to see burning cars, old matresses on the pavement, burqas, and infidels being thrown off tall buildings. Actually, it was quite nice. Lots of trees and mostly the sort of normal people you'd hope and expect to see in Yorkshire: big lasses leaning on pushchairs smoking fags etc.
I only saw one person of sub-continental heritage and that was a gentleman driving a food delivery van (I assumed popadoms but I didn't stop to ask) who was kind enough to stop the traffic and wave me out at a busy junction.
Perhaps I caught the place on a good day.
I see they've got a fecking clean air zone shite in Bradford. luckily I was in my Landrover which is exempt so the regime got no dosh out of me that day.
I bought my Landrover from Nottingham from a dealer on the eastern edge of the city near the racecourse. When I went to look at it I didn't plan my route, just relied on the satnav. It took me down the M1 and right through the centre of the city. The place looked like a third world country and the driving was atrocious. Every other car seemed to have a smashed light, a stoved wing or a full length scrape down the side. Drivers were aggressive, impatient and discourteous. Traffic lights and road markings might as well not have been there. It was a free-for-all. I assumed many of those drivers had never legitimately passed a UK driving test...I had a totally different experience driving up from Nottingham. One guy drove past me on the two lane 40mph road and he must have been doing at least 70mph weaving through the traffic.![]()
Actually, now I think about it, as I approached a roundabout somewhere on the A6097 some guy of non-Anglo-Saxon appearance came speeding in from another road on the right at about 60 mph and drove straight across the roundabout without slowing at all or so much as glancing left or right. There are plenty of native Brits who are shit drivers as well of course but from what I've seen in a lot of our cities now, I do question whether there aren't a cohort of people on our roads who have never been required to pass the UK driving test.I had a totally different experience driving up from Nottingham. Fascinating, thanks! I'd always wondered where the expression came from, at least for the thirty seconds immediately following my hearing it.No you big daft apeth, the Great Coffee Plantations of Helmsley Dale, do keep up!
"Big daft apeth" is Yorkshire slang used to describe someone who is silly, foolish, or daft. The word "apeth" is an old term for a halfpenny, a coin of little value, hence the phrase "daft apeth" is used to describe someone considered to be of little worth or value.
BTW, you got any English speakers up there or is it all pasty-faced Neanderthals with rudimentary language skills?
