Those Damn Rockers

Unless you have already ordered them it might be worth ordering from the states (I got mine from Ducati Seattle). Even with VAT, postage etc it worked out as around £35-£40 per rocker v. £80-£90 UK prices

John has 2 for @ £40 each and ive found some on ebay @£45 all used but half the price

Have you asked him why? Or more to the point, what is the cause of the (presume) wear?

I expect its down to the usual cheapo chroming that Ducati decided to use coupled *Owner error with Not allowing the oil to warm up properly & reach the outer extemities before giving it what for.

*I always let mine tick over for 5 mins when its cold before i set off.

Anyway its done now.

never liked rockers, think it was all that black leather and grease and stuff. Always been a clean cut mod myself:D

You can be sure that the wear is 'actual' rather than 'presumed' as John will always do in my experience what is in his customers interest.

I had two on mine last time, if you don't change them when they become de-chromed it does the camshaft.

It ususally happens from what I know, as in mine when the service is done but there has not been a lot of miles covered and the shims don't get done. A lot of bikes just get belts, don't forget the shims (no rolly eyes)....:p :p

When getting the valve clearances checked at a service it is important that the cams are removed, even if the shims are fine, so that the rockers can be checked or 6,000 miles later when the next service comes round the cams could be fecked.
