number1 has any one fitted a termignoni exhaust pipe 57mm and 2nd is it worth it does it make it better sound is it worth it and 3rd has any one got one for sale i am willing pay 1 grand for a decent second hand one is this about right because im thinking of fitting one to my ducati is it cost effective and would you do it again need help plzzzzzzz

i've got a 57 full system on the 999S. its a bit louder than stock but not offensive and it feels like its got a bit more mid range but I haven't had my bike dyno'ed so can't say for certain. i'd have preferred a 54 system, most of the tuning info i've seen says that the 57 is really for a more highly tuned motor and has little benefit in road use. Some tuners even say the 54 is better!! the 57 is too big and catches the fairing so you need to tweak brackets, it also rubs the swingarm and i had to space my pegs out on the right handside, not what i want to do as even with them set high up on the mounting points i still touch them down occasionally. it took me a lot of cursing and swearing to fit it, its a tight fit and you need to position it loosely and then start tightening bolts, even then you'll find you need to tweak it.

RRP on the one i bought was almost 2400 inc ecu, i never fitted the new ecu ( on the advice of Ducati Glasgow) if you are buying S/H check whether ecu has been installed and coded to a key, if it has its useless in any other bike and a new ecu is about 700.

looks like im going to have to buy yours then and put on my 749r and you can have a 54 because mine will be fatter than yours then

...would bover fittin' one to mine - would look @@@@e..... :D

i would say if u can afford it Lara go for it, the system does sound very nice, a bit more throaty & grunty but like Gizmo says its potential can only be realized on the track.

def worth it tho. :D

Well for noise my ex 749's assy system was alot loader than Gizmo's 999 with 57mm, in fact listenening to it on Sunday, (B&P's bike now) it was the noisiest I saw, sounds amazing :)

Michael,

The later systems don't catch the fairings as the pipes are ovalised to stop it snagging, had one fitted to mine last year and PCIII setup to suit no issues seems to wheelie well now on full chat down the start/finish straights :D

I've heard down the grapevine that the 57mm are for race bikes only, its better to use the 54mm or 50mm assymetric sytems.

I like the sound of Steve's 749 who was riding with us on Sunday.. Except when I started the 998 up... LOL

Good luck on your choice mate...

Lara ,

I'm running a 57mm Termi system on my 999 and would have thought on balance that the extra £800 or so over the 54mm is hard to justify. Marginally more noisy and as stated you cannot fix the second under fairing clip due to the bore of the pipe.

I run it with a PCIII , race filters and got the bike dyno'ed which within reason should smooth things out to a degree depending on the "map" used.

On the road - not worth it I'd say.
