how many miles to a tankfull

Hi folks if this goes all wrong forgive me its taken me a week to find out how to start a thread, anyway does anyone know roughly how many miles to a tank full i should get from my 900ss, not thrashing but steady away

you should have practised at the bar :p

dont know about the 900ss, i can squeeze 130 on the 749 and easily got 120 on the 996 riding quickly (for me)

what are you getting?

This doesn,t sound too good does it . Had the bike since last july thought it seemed a bit heavy on juice but no idea what it should be doing.

Not sure when it was serviced, its going into motostrada next month for a head or base gasket on the front barrel so i will ask them to take a look.

I wouldn't worry about too much, I run basically the same engine as you, with a few tuning bits it empties it's tank (ok it's only 8 ltrs) in about 90 miles, and goes down to about 40 (roughly 23mpg) at knockhill

...who cares, it's a large air-cooled engine with a bit of oil cooling, it's gonna drink!!! :p

The 600ss racebike drinks ALOT of fuel, ALOT I say, ain't got an accurate figure but did about 30 litres on the Brands Hatch Indy TD, only did 5 sessions and didn'y once do the full session, + 15 mins qualifying then 2 x 10 lap races ! Thats not many miles I tell thee !

it seems to be around 80 ,90 miles and the little light starts warn me

The idiot light on my Paso 906 starts flickering when the tank is still half full ! Looking inside the tank there appears to be some strange contraption that controls the tank level indicator. On a brim full tank i can do a round trip to Bridlington, just, about 150 miles.

you can actually adjust the sender unit in the tank (not sure if the Paso one is the same as the SS models though) I set mine so that it has about 1.5 ltrs in it when the light comes on.

When I had the 900ss it would about 120 - 130 miles until the light came on. I would usually fill it up by 150 miles but reckon it would go about 180 or so to empty. Mind you I did a track day on it and nearly emptied the tank in 100 miles.

I remember my beloved Suzuki RG500 Gamma - it used to be as thirsty as my old LandRover; I would normally get 14-17mpg out of it; you only ever thrash those things, mind you, it had a largish tank so it did make up for its thirst!!

...sorry, I'm hijacking this thread with Jap stuff, I suppose it's still related coz we're talking about fuel.

I thought mine was a bit thirsty untill I found the tank breather didnt have a non return valve in it & I was dumping fuel onto the road (& me back tyre - but thats another story) - got red light at 85.

now it's red light at 100ish & ive managed to squeeeeeeeeeeezzeee
130

Oh....and I forgot to add in the little stretch of road from Moffat to St Marys Loch.......thats about 10 miles...X2...so that makes 164, less the 400 yds... ;)
