just recieved a recall for the my Ducati today, final drive sprocket needs checking. Was wondering if it will be a visual check ( looks ok to me:lol2: ) or will it be some type of ultrasound check? Anyone else had this recall?

think the sprockets could develop hairline fractures / break. Rockjock got his replaced after recall, best get it in for check / replacement ASAP

recall

Had my rear sprocket checked and replaced on 1098 during august but have received a second recall note. The first one was the webbing,if you look close you can see six holes cut into it and the first ones where a little too thin near webbing, the later has more material, next to webbing.

I've had no such notice to be honest - it might be model or manufacture year specific, that said the model is only 24 months, albeit now discontinued  , but thanks for the heads up - I'll check on that.

Really concerned about Ducati's communication skills, another owner never received a recall notice issued for the D16RR.

I think I had 1 of these for the 07 Tricolore. Dealer replaced just incase.. Not had 1 on the 1098R yet, just curious as to when that will be recalled???

samieb - sounds like the problem was maybe resolved before the 1098R was released. I'll nip in to Ducati Glasgow on Saturday and get a heads up. Martin might see the post and update us

mine was recalled and replaced FOC, took about 30 minutes. original had done 12000 miles so no need to worry unduly - unless you're in the habit of going full revs everywhere.

can we get this info from Ducatis web site ?? Would beat speculation by us non educated ones :D :D :D

The sprocket recall is a visual inspection in the first instance - purely to determine and confirm exactly which sprocket has been fitted to the machine.

If it is the first specification it will be changed to an updated version.

You will not be able to tell be looking - your sprocket will look perfect.

The simple answer is not to worry, take it to your local dealer that WILL be able to tell by looking.

They will replace your sprocket free of charge - usually while you wait.
