1098, why ?

The 999 looks shit :poop: and only the owners of them defend the aesthetics. 🤷‍♂️

Just sayin' like. 😶
nah. They're still the most awesomeness race bike in full factory trim, full on chuck norris.

behold..

I have taken a 999 and created a 999 pantigargle hardtail back end.
Therfore the pantigarlie takes its design cues from a superior racing machine and therefore wins races and stuff.
Note how I draw your attention to the deep draw angle between the seat and back wheel.

Ah, so you are making a bike you say looks beautiful, look like something else.

Understood. ;)

if we're talking about evolution, the panigale takes definite design cues from the 999, whereas apart from a single sider it bypasses the 1098.

The 999 isn't there to look pretty, it's there to look purposeful, do a job, and it achieves it.
For me the purity of design and engineering translates into what I find attractive, but then again I'm used to looking at leMans edurance cars and formula one machinery where a stylist hasn't been anywhere near them. I'm looking at it with engineering eyes not buying public tarts eyes, and I still maintain that the 999 like the 916 before it cut a unique silhouette on the circuit, unlike the 1098 where it's all a bit of this and a bit of that.

Working in auto engineering and taking that 1098 apart, all I saw was cheap and quick.
Sure the 1098 won hands down, it gave you lot back your single sider and all the snuggly duvet bits that you felt were lost with the demise of the 916.
but you also bought a machine that the accountants basically put a set of nice clothes on and made you pay through the nose for. That chassis for instance will never be as unique on an R as say the glorious thing that made the 749R, but that's progress.

Ultimately you 1098 owners won as I say, you got your tamburini for the next generation, and of course it will be bigger better faster more, but sadly there's some right old cheap shit on that bike, and it heralded a shift into a mentality where the factory looked at what they could get away with rather than what dod we need to make it special.
