1098s or 1098 is the question

Require the assistance of the forums members in deciding what to replace my S4Rs (sold in September) with, my favorite at present is the 1098s in black.

Here’s where your opinions come in is the extra cost of a 1098s over a 1098 reflected in the bikes characteristics, could you tell the difference when riding the different models? (only ridden the 1098)

Anyone willing to share their pictures of a black 1098s?
Real world pics as a posed to the sterile environment pics on the Ducati site.

Thanking you in advance

"S" if you're going to race or do many trackdays, otherwise save some cash and do lots of miles........ Base model is fine for any road use. I've put 7500 miles on mine (base model) so far and never felt underprivileged..........

Personally I prefer the S (but then I do have a Tricolore), don't do many trackdays, but there both as good as each other for normal day to day riding...

Thanks for your comments so far.

After a considerable amount of soul searching I’ve decided upon the 1098s. :D

Being honest after having the S4Rs.

I would miss the look of the Ohlins and some of the other subtle differences between the two models.

I’ve tried to justify the additional cost relating it to increased performance but the truth is I’m addicted to the bling, since my riding capabilities
would never allow me to the 1098 to its limits of performance.

Now I just need to decide on the colour :o

Been deliberating what bike to buy since September.
The other contender I was considering was a new 07 cbr1000rr in the HRC colour scheme since its five thousand pounds cheaper and there aren’t many modifications to be carried out as apposed to the endless list for the 1098.

I made the mistake of buying the S4Rs with my head so this time it’s the hearts turn.

1098s

Hi,
There is a one year old red 1098s in Ducati Glasgow at the moment I think. It has lots of carbon, full termi system and more trick bits costing in excess of £3000 - Looks a good buy.

Should you buy the fireblade, don't advertise it on DUN please.... However should you plump and buy the 1098s you'll enjoy it...

So what you doing with the S4RS?

Why do you need to carry out endless modifications to a 1098? Mine has a carbon fender, hugger and swingarm cover, tank knee pads, (which didn't NEED doing) and that's it! Plus a new mirror mount from when I er, re-arranged the styling a bit..........now, it did NEED that!

Oh, no carbon nose cone yet then?

Samieb sold the S4Rs through Ducati Glasgow, and I never asked if I should buy the fireblade it was already ruled out just used it as a comparison.

The ownership experience of the S4Rs taught me that once you start personalizing / modifying the standard bike it becomes (for me) addictive. The full system for me is a must after how it transformed the S4Rs, then there’s the process of opening the clutch cover and then the carbon parts which will surely follow.

yup, gotta work right upto Christmas, then got 2 week off from 21st till new year, prolly up for a good coast run, Knot End on the west coast or Scarboro /Whitby up the east. Fact we could do an early one and do both via Lake district?

Today, Grizedale Forest :)

Seems like quite a few building up in the dealers showrooms now that the initial rush is over, and you may get a deal now that winter is here too.

Why not go for a 1098S but try and get it for the price of a regular 1098?
