Just visiting
Back to back test against the big bang R1 !

'The Yamaha simply doesn't deliver in any of the myriad ways the Ducati does.In fact apart from the initial purchase price and subsequent servicing costs, the Ducati wins on every front'.

'The 1198s is quite simply the best Ducati - if not the best motorcycle - I've ever ridden and it's worth every penny'.

Oddly enough (well not really this is MCN I am talking about after all !) their recent road and track test said the R1 was all round a much better bike to live with. Not surprisingly in another test they showered the 1198S with praise. They change their allegiance almost as often as their socks. Honestly from one week to another, I dont think MCN are ever consistent in their reporting. As I said no surprise there from a publication reknowned for printing utter @@@@e.

Irrespective of articles and the magazines producing them, there is NO substitute for basing your decision as to which bike to buy on your own personal appraisal of it. I'd never buy a bike on the strength of such sources, lest you will end up potentially very disappointed. Take what is written with a pinch of salt and go try the bike you are keen on for yourself, then formulate an opinion. Not having a go at you Wassy BTW. Just those that put way too much faith in these mags and some of the drivvle they print.

Couldn't agree more. There are so many factors to consider - many of them being subjective - that the opinion of one reviewer doesn't sway my opinion. The only thing I hope to get from reading loads of reviews is any obvious gotchas (and these are rarer and rarer on new vehicles).
