1199 Panigale.....how noisy??

Popped up to Oulton Park at the weekend, a mate was doing a track day, bumped into another mate who was there with Ducati Manchester's 1199 demo bike. They had taken it with the view to getting a feel for it & possibly running one in super stock. The bike was totally standard, but they weren't allowed on the track due to the fact that they couldn't get it to pass the 102db noise test!!!

It appeared to be the engine noise that was causeing the problem, not the exhaust noise.........when a 1198 is tested the meter is well away from the engine so it's not a problem....not so on the 1199!!

Anybody else had similar issues?

I was there as well and was disappointed not to see the bike on track.
I spoke to the guy who brought it and he said the same thing as you.
We had a cracking day until it started to hail and then throw showers down every ten minutes (and it was bloody freezing.)

So Im not buying my panigale this year until they sort it out ..........................£16 K for a bike you cant take on track !!!!!!

Aye it was a grand day all round. Last few sessions were mint.
Felt really sorry for him. They tried all sorts of wadding up behind the db killer inside the can, and it didnt
drop it 1 db. So obviously engine noise and not the pipe. We asked for him to be allowed to run 1 lap drive by test
but they stuck to the rules that if he didnt pass the static test, he had no track access.
Later on in the day, half of the supermoto lads who had passed the noise tests earlier were suddenlt black flagged and
sent packing. Maybe the the circuit had been getting a few NIMBY calls?

FWIW my full termi system tested 104 straight through, and 101 with heavily drilled inserts. No way the panigale was
as loud in a real drive by.
