DUCATI Corse General Manager, Filippo Preziosi has previewed the new Desmosedici GP12 stating that: "Ninety percent of the parts are brand new."

Discussing the technical details Preziosi announced that the GP12 is a complete redesign of the bike that was tested by Valentino Rossi at Valencia, but said it will look very similar. The brand new Desmosedici GP12 will continue to use the aluminium perimetric frame and carbon swingarm, but modified, as the only components to actually remain the same are the forks and steering components.

Sepang is going to be very interesting.

If the post-season testing at Valencia is an indication, the HRC Hondas are the ones to beat but they've set the bar very high.

Hate to say it but i cant see past honda this yr, with winger on board i think he will run of with it again, just hope ducati make a better show of it this yr
 
Interesting that Checa (who has ridden the 2011 bike and is about to try the 2012 one next week) blames the Bridgestone tyres for Ducati's woes:

“It seems to me that the tires are responsible for the lack of excitement in MotoGP and the reason the riders are crashing without understanding why,” Checa said. “There is a lot of talk about the (Ducati) bike and the chassis, but the real difference in this category comes from the tires. They are super-rigid.”

“When you don’t understand where the tire limits are, it becomes very complicated to develop a bike. The issue at Ducati isn’t the chassis; they changed it four times, and the result was always the same. The problem is the tires.”

It does seem a little daft that a "prototype" class where you can change your frame every race has only one tyre maker.
 
That's not the first comment I've heard about this, having to "design the bike around the tyres" and agree that the one tyre rule is a bit daft. I think the proposals for one ecu are even dafter

Her tweet "Preziosi confirmed Battaini + Checa will do private Jerez test next wk but in 53min of answerings Qs he revealed almost nothing re GP12!" is also picked up elsewhere. Other than saying that most of the bike has changed, they aren't really giving up any facts... still busy with the t-cut trying to get that bloody Honda logo polished out I bet! :D
 
The tyres are whats killing the racing. if there is only 1 tyre its obvious that the companys have to build 1 bike to suit them, so all the bikes end up the same.
The 1199 racer aint plagued with the front probs of the gp bike according to #21 so it must be a tyre issue
