Yes, I think Amaranth is like your stripe - I really like it. I have *never* seen an Amaranth GT/GTS or a picture of one. As far as I know, it might be candy or a plain opaque colour.

The idea is to Thank the ones you like, then I can easily summarise/count.
 
1) Good
2) Good
3) Yuk
4) Good - the best blue
5) 70's Allegro
6) Interesting, but not for me
7) and 8) A pink Ducati? It's a crime.

I think you should go with your original idea of green. Some of those others are just too weird...
 
Wow! Lime green has *a load of* thanks! That's a surprise - I do like it.

I wasn't able to come up with a really good candy citrus yellow with photoshop - my lack of skill.
 
Yellow is an unusual colour but i think it works really well on bikes, as you know i did my Harris yellow and it was a real eye catcher. Yellow works well with black so seats and tires and even exhausts look good. Bright colours pick out shapes well as the have definition. think Black tank surrounded by black seat and black yokes and clocks and top of engine in shadow and the same with bright yellow surrounded by black.. :)

Or silver as I have had my frame done in silver. Choice is a wonderful thing!
 
If it's silver make it one of those big-flake 70's silvers with a dummy fuel level stripe airbrushed-on like an Imola rep. That'd get the experts talking but your tank'd get dented from all the knuckles rapping the 'fibreglass'

Shiny bits back from the chromers...

Not much has been happening, think oil for winter followed by complete failure of hot water cylinder/thermal store, oil pump on boiler etc., etc...

However I had one exciting arrival today...

Just out of interest do you have a break down of charges for chrome ? I wondered what the kick start cost you. i'm sure i paid through the nose last one i had done.
 
Oooh Chocolate. I've been busy renewing our kitchen. It's been fun remembering all the things I'd forgotten I knew. I wanted some sheets of stainless to make a splashback for the Range Cooker I had given and found a place in Cleckheaton that fabricates catering furniture. If I ever get a bigger garage I know where the benches are coming from!
 
It was a job lot, quite eye watering at £340 including postage and a further government 20% drink out of my already-taxed-income known as VAT, or TPT in my parlance.

I have to say they have done a lovely job. I am pleased. Don't expect to get it back by return, I put these in some months ago. You can ask for a quicker job and in the past they have been very accommodating.

Benches are fantastic, the only problem is as soon as you've got one you want a wider one ;-)

This lot cost me £185 cash from Classics and Chrome, Hinckley. It started at £205 + VAT, but David is quite accommodating if you argue long enough. Timing was quoted at 6 weeks but he called me after 2 weeks to say they were ready. He did list the prices per item but only on a cardboard box, which unfortunately has been recycled. I think the kickstart was about £35. I got quotes from several chrome platers for bits for my 250. This guy was the most competitive and the quality seems good so I went back with parts for the twin.

I paid £120 +vat for a 900SS kick start strip and chrome. stupid thing was i wanted it done for resale and having paid £130 for it i needed £280 then to turn a profit. I sold it for £290, lesson learnt. I have a single kick start in stock for £80 and its been mirror polished then chromed and mirror polished again. No chromed casting finish here ....lol and i cant sell it at £80. Yet rough rusty ones go for £50. People have no idea what good chrome plating actually costs..

I can see that margin necessitates the direction you take; You do have nice stock, however...

No one escapes the decision of the open market, it just hurts when it's a business ;)

Derek has turned up some really good & useful suppliers.

Now a rigged market... that's a different thing altogether.
 
It is just a question of searching for the bargain. If we all did that some platers would have to halve their prices to survive. The other problem is they tend to work to much higher standards than Ducati ever did !! they don't restore parts they turn them into "custom show" parts. I took a kick start to xxxxx Chrome. I asked them to do a basic strip and re chrome. When i picked it up they were so proud of the mirror finish they had got on the once rough forged casting of the knuckle !!! I just thought you wrecked that mate !!
Its not some Custom Harley thing its a restoration....lol

They know not what they do.

I took a set of dirty but otherwise excellent set of lower bevel gears & oil pump primary drive in to be ultrasonically cleaned.

He wasn't satisfied with the cleaning so vapour blasted them; Look and weep at what he did.

Needless to say I had to buy a brand new set, sourced from Domiracer fortunately just before they sold out.
 
Brightwork...

I am really pleased to have just received my brightwork back from being zinc plated; It was mostly going in the bin and now I have original parts with original patina looking new(ish). What could be better!

I also know they will all fit and where necessary are the correct steel for the job.

I also have arranged for the correct side panel decals to be made up for the GTS as mine did not have the plastic badges. Like this, in FS1E colour Candy Gold...

The decals came from Classic Transfers who in my opinion are Top Suppliers.

The engine is still in the Netherlands, I have been rushed off my feet so I guess it will be a trip out there in January.
