Just picked this up yesterday, engine requires a total rebuild, no information on what was wrong with it, can anyone confirm if they did this model in orange or blue , also missing the starter motor.

Welcome. What year is it as that often aligns with some colours. What are you going to do with it?

It's a1978 ,putting it back on the road, I normally leave the paint work as is but really don't like the colour and will keep this one .
Would like to have an original colour though.

No paperwork yet just applied for it today , with the side reflectors I think it's an import. Orange and black 🤔 worn out Google trying to sort the colours out .

Sorry been waiting for a V5 which took some letters and lots of time to get sorted out, Engine is being stripped and we have the chance to make it look like new if not better or do we just give it a good clean as I think my heart is towards a rebuild as is. I plan to use this bike and I'm thinking i like the history it shows even though I'm not a fan of brown, my painter a good pal has even offered to make the blue paint look 40+ years old , not sure what to do and that's [[[[not like me any slagging and option's welcome need to make my mind up by Monday .

IMO give it a good clean and leave it, if you really restore it to almost new condition any little ding sticks out like a sore thumb!! Like buying a brand new bike and you notice every mark and ding, a sympathetic restoration. (y)
It's all up to you at the end of the day.🤷‍♂️

I'd make it immaculate! But that's just what I like.. I guess it depends if ya chasing top dollar or just what makes you happy. Which would make you sit for ages staring at?
Would you look at a beat up brown bike and think "fuck that is gorgeous "?

These aren't big hitters on the fully restored front so I'd workout what you want to spend on it and then make sure what you wan't to do with it. Don't be fooled by a high price as most will be dealers taking the piss in the hope someone doesn't know what they are doing will buy it.

Personally I'd get the bits, get it running and see where you go after that.

I've allways wanted a 1952 Vincent Rapide series C, long story but i could of bought one in 2018 but didn't as i was married at the time. As the song goes , you can't allways get what you want!! I have a year 2000 996 and i am a lucky man to own that so am happy with what i have and i have a Royal Enfield 500 Bullet EFI. I recently converted it to a carb and what a difference that has made over the bloody fuel injection!!:)

Ex bike trade so very lucky ridden most must have bikes , had 18 at one point as my best man told my wife in his speech, have a 916 1995 78,000 miles on her and it looks it , will be back on the road one day ive had it 21 years, I have a zxr-750 had that for 25 years starts on the button hoover tubes included, everything else a part from the Commando went in 2023 when i broke my back . Bought the GTS now just need to replace my go to bike a Ducati SS1000 DS , for the road all you need but i wont be ridding any sports stuff again so GTS and Commando to the rescue. What size of carb did you fit ? how does the ECU like it.

Hitchcocks who do everything Enfield.

The ECU just deals with timing and the bike runs fine with no intervention! (y)

Best way. A member whose court case is at the settlement stage kept mentioning things in the public part of the forum despite members saying keep it private. It's best not to say anything in the public part.

Exige does belts, possibly for older bikes?
