If i had the money i would just pile the miles on it, each to there own and all that and to be honest complete overkill for the road but what a thing.

My friend has one with 43 miles on it.
At those extremely low miles after so many years would you actually run it? or be afraid of seals or gaskets not being great? 
I rather a couple of thousand miles on one that's been on a couple of coffee runs every year? These are truly a bucket list bike in my opinion genuinely something special from back when specials were actually different

I'd start it up after a 3 year lay off and pin the throttle wide open, bouncing it off the limiter to warm it up nicely.

Absolutely - I never even use trickle chargers because I use my bikes regularly even through winter. Like you say, all the hoses, lines, cables…they all need using or they perish.
